Outbreak/Illness Investigations
BELGIUM: At least 175 students from a Dutch university attending an orientation camp in Antwerp, Belgium have been stricken with an outbreak of Norovirus. The source and means of transmission have not yet been determined.
UK (Update): The UK Health Security Agency continues to investigate three outbreaks of Salmonella Enteritidis infections that may be linked to imported eggs. As of September 1, 2026, the three separate outbreak strains account for a total of 528 confirmed cases, including 2 deaths. Cases continue to be associated with eating at a range of food outlets, including small cafés, restaurants and takeaway businesses.
USA (Update): CDC and FDA have closed their investigations into an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses linked to shell eggs from Midwest Poultry Services. The CDC updated its case count to 134 lab-confirmed outbreak illnesses in 18 states. Thirty-four people were hospitalized.
USA (Update): CDC and FDA have updated their investigations into an outbreak of E. coli O145:H28 illnesses linked to IQF (frozen) blueberries imported from Chile. Seventeen people in Florida and Georgia have been infected with the outbreak strain, and six of them have been hospitalized.

Food Safety Recall: Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. (San Carlos, Chile) recalls Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend 10 OZ (Including Strawberries, Blackberries and Blueberries) (10 oz; Lot 6040 01-6; Best if used by February 9, 2028; UPC 7874211226) due to possible E. coli O145:H28 contamination.

Allergy Alert: Les Aliments Kim Phat (Montréal, QC) recalls MINI DANOISE AU FRAMBOISE / Mini raspberry Danish (Pack of 12; All lots) and MINI DANOISE AU FROMAGE / Mini cheese Danish (Pack of 12; All lots) due to undeclared milk, egg, and soy.
Ireland and United Kingdom
Allergy Alert (Ireland): Trade recalls Crownfield Müsli-Riegel Schoko (200g; Batch 203; Expiry date 20/07/2027; Product of Poland) and Crownfield Müsli-Riegel Schoko-Banane (200g; Batch 206; Expiry date 24/07/2027; Product of Poland) due to undeclared peanut (Schoko variety only), milk, and cereals (gluten).
Allergy Alert (UK): Tesco recalls Tesco Finest Caesar & Smoked Bacon Coleslaw (270g; Use by 04 September 2026) due to undeclared mustard.
