Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of 12 confirmed cases of E. coli O145:H28 in Florida and Georgia. Four people have been hospitalized. The cases are linked to consumption of frozen GreenWise brand-organic blueberries recalled by Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A, of San Carlos, Chile.

USA Update: FDA and CDC report a fourth case of infant botulism linked to Nara Organics Whole Organic Milk infant formula powder. FDA also reports that the California Department of Public Health has recovered Clostridium botulinum from an opened can of the infant formula collected at the home of one of the victims.

USA: FDA is investigating a new outbreak of 11 confirmed cases of E. coli O145:H28 linked to a not-yet-identified food.

USA (Update): FDA continues to investigate two outbreaks of Salmonella Enteritidis linked to not-yet-identified foods. The total number of confirmed cases in the two outbreaks has reached 107.
