USA: FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of 98 Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses in 17 states. Twenty-six people have been hospitalized. The most recent onset of symptoms was June 30, 2026. The outbreak has been linked to various brands of shell eggs from Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. The company announced a product recall on July 22, 2026.

CANADA Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada has closed its investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella linked to pistachios and products containing pistachios. The outbreak, which involved 200 confirmed illnesses in six provinces, was linked to pistachios imported from Iran. Twenty-six people were hospitalized. There were no deaths. The CFIA’s temporary import restriction on pistachios from Iran remains in effect.

USA Update: The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is reporting 7,664 total Cyclospora cases in the state with 160 hospitalizations as of July 23, 2026.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Harbor Marine Product Inc. that a March 5, 2025, through March 27, 2025 inspection of the company’s seafood processing facility found evidence of serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and evidence of non-pathogenic Listeria spp. in environmental swab samples collected during the inspection.
