Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Update): The Public Health Agency of Canada continues to investigate an outbreak of multiple Salmonella serotypes linked to consumption of contaminated pistachios and pistachio-containing products. The number of confirmed outbreak cases has now risen to 189 individuals in six provinces. Twenty-six of the outbreak victims have been hospitalized.

RUSSIA: Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) reported an outbreak of acute intestinal infection in Murom, Vladimir Region, Russia, resulting in 375 confirmed cases, including 188 children, with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, and fever. The outbreak, which occurred between April 7th and April 10th, 2026, may have been linked to a norovirus infection transmitted via water.
