United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell and consumers not to eat certain raw oysters from Dai One Foods Co., Ltd, Republic of Korea, due to possible sapovirus contamination. The Southern Nevada Health District notified the FDA of two clusters of illnesses from individuals that consumed raw oysters at a restaurant in Las Vegas on 10/28/2022 and 11/5/2022. 

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA reports that the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak has increased in size to 269 cases. The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined. The CDC has not posted any information on distribution of confirmed cases across the country.

Allergy Alert: Weis Markets recalls Weis Quality Sea Salt Caramel Ripple Ice Cream (48 oz; Sell by 11/08/23; UPC 041497-01288) due to undeclared soy and coconut.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Happy Sprout Inc. (Springfield, VA) that the agency’s July 2022 inspection of the company’s sprouting operation revealed serious violations of the Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption regulation.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Winfrey’s Olde English Fudge, Inc. (Rowley, MA) that the agency’s March-April 2022 inspection of the company’s manufacturing facility revealed serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns The Bonami Baking Company, Inc. (Pittsburg, CA) that the agency’s April 2022 inspection of the company’s food manufacturing facility revealed serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventative Controls for Human Food regulation.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Hafner Canada Inc. recalls Sélection du Pâtissier brand Lemon and Poppyseed Poundcake (1.55 kg; Lot 2257; UPC 6 22267 04509 1) due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of plastic). The recalled product was sold in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.

Allergy Alert (France): PANGNIU FOOD FRANCE recalls PANGNIU FOOD brand LANIERES DE TOFU / Tofu strips (All lots; Use by 01/11/2022) due to undeclared wheat gluten.

Allergy Alert (France): PANGNIU FOOD FRANCE recalls PANG NIU FOOD brand TOFU PRESSE / Pressed tofu (All lots; Use by 15/11/2022) due to undeclared wheat gluten.

Allergy Alert (France): REAUTE CHOCOLATS PRODUCTION recalls Réauté Chocolat brand Pâtes de fruits exotiques / Exotic fruit jellies (100g; Lot 300922AL1; Best before 30/04/2023) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Italy): TRENTIN SpA recalls TRENTIN SpA PARMIGIANO REGGIANO DOP 24 mesi / Cheese, aged 24 months (~800-900g; Lot P1843; Best before 01-04-2023) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Principio attivo recalls Cannella polvere / Cinnamon powder (40g; Lot 1224, 1246, 1253; Best before 12/2023 & 12/2024) due to undeclared sulphur dioxide.

Allergy Alert (UK): ALDI recalls Gianni’s Milk Chocolate Lollies (4-pack; Best before September 2024) due to undeclared almonds.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Dina Food ApS recalls Fintons Bakery mini mufffins med vaniljesmag og chokoladefyld / Mini muffins with vanilla flavour and chocolate filling (168g; Best before 23.10.2022, 04.11.2022, 06.11.2022) and Mini Tulip Muffins med vaniljesmag og chokoladefyld / Mini tulip muffins with vanilla flavour and chocolate filling (336g; Best before 04.11.2022) due to mold contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): AUCHAN RETAIL SERVICES AUCHAN LUXEUIL recalls COQUES / Molluscs (Sold at the fish counter November 5-7, 2022) due to E. coli contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): FERME DE LA FOSSE A L EAU recalls ferme de la fosse à l’eau brand fromage blanc lissé au lait cru / Cream cheese made from raw milk (500g, 3 kg, 5 kg; Lots 90, 91, 92; Use by 18/ 11/2022, 28/ 11/2022, 05/12/2022, respectively) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Singapore): The Ministry of Health and the Singapore Food Agency are investigating two incidents of gastroenteritis affecting a total of 284 persons who reported gastroenteritis symptoms after consuming food prepared by Rasel Catering Singapore Pte Ltd between 8 and 16 November 2022. The company’s have been suspended until further notice.
