United States

Outbreak Alert Update: CDC has update its advice against consuming Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal to include all package sizes and date codes.

Outbreak Alert: CDC is investigating an outbreak of Cyclosporiasis linked to consumption of vegetable trays produced by Del Monte Fresh Produce and distributed in Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, FoodMax Supermarket, and Peapod stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Allergy Alert: Golden Star Wholesale recalls AL Reef  Dried Apricots Sour (12 oz; uncoded) due to undeclared sulfites. The recalled product was sold via retail stores in MI, NY,MN,KY,WI,FL,NC,VA,OR,MA,OH,TX,MO between November 2017 and May 2018.

Food Safety Recall: NOW Health Group, Inc. recalls NOW Real Food® Zesty Sprouting Mix (16 oz.; Lot #3031259 and 3038165; Best by dates 12/20 and 01/21, respectively; UPC 733739072719) due to possible Salmonella contamination. According to the manufacturer’s recall notice, “Evidence of potential contamination was implicated in ongoing FDA and CDC investigations into multistate outbreaks of Salmonella infections, of which the clover seed supplier was notified.” The recalled product was distributed online and in retail stores across the USA since December 2017, and also was exported to Canada.

Food Safety Recall: Texas Natural Meats recalls Green Field Farms Rogers Texas Ground Beef (1-lb bags; Expiry 08.08.2020) due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O103. The recalled product was sold at a farmers’ market in Roger, Texas.

Canada

Outbreak Alert Update: PHAC reports the number of Salmonella cases linked to frozen, raw breaked chicken has expanded to include 68 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis illness in nine jurisdictions: British Columbia (8), Alberta (9), Manitoba (9), Ontario (15), Quebec (23), New Brunswick (1), Nova Scotia (1), Newfoundland and Labrador (1), and the Northwest Territories (1).

Allergy Alert: Kehar Foods International Ltd. recalls KFI Premium Quality Foods Curry Powder (100g; Expiry Dec 2018; UPC 8 20103 22525 0) due to undeclared mustard. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in British Columbia.

Food Safety Recall: La Libellule resto convivial recalls Meat Sauce and Vegetarian Chili (all product sold up to June 20) because the items may not be safe for human consumption.

Europe

Outbreak Alert (Sweden): Swedish authorities are investigating two Salmonella outbreaks affecting more than 40 people, according to news reports. The source of the outbreaks is undetermined.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Bauer S.p.a. recalls Brodo Granulare Istantaneo Funghi / Instant Mushroom Broth Powder (Lot #L0008440; Expiry 03/21) due to undeclared walnuts.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Mondelez Italia Biscuits Production S.p.A. recalls Cipster brand Sfogliatine di patate fritte / Fried potato flakes (85g; Best before 31/10/2018, 30/11/2018, 31/12/2019, 31/01/2019) due to undeclared gluten.

Allergy Alert (UK): Mondelez International recalls Ritz Chipster (85g; Best before 31 December 2018) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert (UK): Sainsbury’s recalls Fruit and Honey Seed Mix (Best before September 2018) due to undeclared nuts.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Cora recalls Cora brand Shredded Coconut (125g; Lot F 04 4; Best by 25/01/2019) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Colruyt Group Fine Food Meat recalls Country Steak (±400g; Expiry 22/6/2018) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Tulip Food Company recalls Slagter Munch Onion Sausage (vacuum packed; Use by  06/07/2018 through 15/07/2018) due to Listeria contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Toms Gruppen A/S recalls Toms Pingvin Lakrids candies (110g; Use by 30/11/19) due to foreign matter (metal particle) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Finland): Snellman Kokkikartano Oy recalls Lohipasta (300g; Use by 28.6.2018) due to foreign matter (plastic and metal pieces) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Finland): Findus Finland Oy recalls Findus Våra Finaste Persilja / Parsley (30g; Batch Nos. L 7333 CV005 & L 8029 AV005) due to Shiga-toxin producing E. coli contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Eifrisch Marketing GmbH and Co. KG recalls Shell eggs from organic farm (Lot #0-EN-0356331; Best before 07.07.2018) due to Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Sweden): Toms Gruppen A / S recalls Ferrari Original candies in bulk (Best before 30-05-2019, 11-06-2019 and 12-06-2019) due to foreign matter (metal pieces) contamination.

Australia and New Zealand

Food Safety Recall (Australia): SA Sprouts recalls various Sprout Mixes (product of Australia) due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.
