United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC is investigating a multistate outbreak of 37 human Salmonella infections linked to contact with pet turtles. Outbreak cases have been reported from 13 states; 16 of the 37 victims have been hospitalized. Nearly one-third of the victims are children under 5 years of age.

Outbreak/Food Safety Alert (Update): CDC’s investigation of Salmonella infections linked to consumption of Maradol papayas from Mexico continues to expand with the identification of two more outbreaks. The consolidated number of cases has reached 201 victims in 23 states, with 65 hospitalizations and one death. In addition to Carica de Campeche, two more Mexican farms have been implicated in outbreak cases: Caraveo Produce and El Zapotanito.

Allergy Alert: Wakefern Food Corp. recalls ShopRite brand Semi-Sweet Real Chocolate Chips (24-oz bags; Best if Used By dates of April 11, 2019 and April 12, 2019; UPC 041190 02668) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold in ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer and other retail stores located throughout the Northeast.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Summer Star Trading Co. Ltd. recalls Ziranwei brand dried and preserved products due to undeclared sulphites. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: The British Columbia Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) warns consumers that Hepatitis A virus has been detected in a sample of Western Family brand fresh pineapple chunks (7-oz ready-to-go cups; Produced August 11, 2017; Best before August 19, 2017; Product of Costa Rica). The recalled product was distributed to 38 Save-On-Foods, Overwaitea Foods and PriceSmart Foods stores in BC. Food Safety Recall: Industry recalls Shore Lunch brand Fish Breading/Batter Mix – Cajun Style (255g; Product code 1064828; Best by 1/18/2018; UPC 0 24739 19363 5) and Shore Lunch brand Fish Breading/Batter Mix – Original Recipe (255g; Product code  1064839; Best by 1/17/2018; UPC 0 24739 19362 8) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Gastronomie Nature (3935299 Canada Inc.) recalls Schnitzer brand Baguette Classic (2 x 180g; Product code 30118; UPC 4 022993 045628) due to pieces of plastic.

Allergy Alert (UK): Asda recalls ASDA Classic Fish Pie (800g; Best before 07 Sept 2017) due to undeclared mustard.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Upignac recalls Delhaize brand Raw breast of duck (approx 400g; vacuum packed; Lot #20170107; Use by 05/09/2017) due to contamination with shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Leis GmbH recalls Dried Dill / Dillspitzen, getrocknet (50g; Expiry date 10.11.2017; Lot #L4647) due to contamination with Salmonella and Enterobacteriaceae.

Food Safety Recall (Luxembourg): Industry recalls Schnitzer brand Glutenfreies Bio Maisbaguette zum Aufbacken (2 x 180g; Lot #30118; Expiry 03.01.2018; Product of Germany) due to possible presence of pieces of plastic.

Food Safety Recall (UK): TRS Wholesale Ltd recalls TRS Whole Chillies Extra Hot (50g; Best before 28 February 2019; Batch code P170221) due to elevated aflatoxin levels.

Safety Recall (UK): Athole Tablet Ltd recalls Scots Tablet (2.268Kg Jars; Best before 19/2/18 – 24/2/18; Batch codes 171920P1-4, 172221P1-8, 172321P1-5, 172421P1-4, 172521P1-4) and Iron Broo Tablet (2.268Kg Jars; Best before 22/2/18 – 25/2/18; Batch codes 172321P6-8 and 172621P1-4) due to potential contamination with small pieces of metal.

Food Safety Recall (Israel): AMST recalls Smoked Salmon filets due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for details.

Allergy Alert (New Zealand): Importers recall Chuan Qi Hot Pot Sauce (All sizes, batch codes, dates and flavors) due to undeclared peanuts, gluten, soy, sesame, crustacea and fish.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Rafferty’s Garden recalls Rafferty’s Garden Happy Tummies Vegetable Risotto (Best before 10 Aug 2018 and 12 Aug 2018) due to possible contamination with pieces of glass.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Go Farming Ltd recalls Go 2 Raw Milk brand raw (unpasteurised) drinking milk (1L glass bottles; Batch 32, 33, and 34; Use by 18 August 2017, 20 August 2017, and 21 August 2017) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product is sold online and is collected at the farm or delivered within the Southland and Queenstown regions.

(Montreal, QC, Canada) recalls WEST END CUISINE GRILLED MEDITERRANEAN STYLE CHICKEN SKEWERS HAND-MADE WITH CHICKEN BREAST (1.31-lb. packages; lot codes 172562, 172640, 172571 and 172704; UPC 621588314947) and EXPRESCO GRILLED Garlic & Herb CHICKEN SKEWERS (1.09-lb packages; lot codes 172563, 172668, 172669 and 172670; UPC 621588315555) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan and Texas.

Food Safety Recall: Sunrise Growers Inc. recalls Great Value Organic Dark Sweet Pitted Cherry products (32 ounce printed plastic zip top bags; Best By 08/10/19; Lot code FED722211 or FED722212; UPC 078742126166) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were distributed to a customer distribution center in Louisiana and may have been redistributed to stores in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Pharmaceutical Products Safety Recall: Centurion Labs recalls Ninjacof (473 mL bottles; Lot# 200N1601; Expiration date 11/2018) and Ninjacof A (473 mL bottles; Lot# 201NA1601; Expiration date 11/2018) due to possible contamination with Burkholderia cepacia. The recalled products were manufactured by Vilvet and distributed by Centurion in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Allergy Alert: Juliang Healthy Food recalls Juliang brand Peach Blossom Powder for Beautifying Face (300g; All lot codes; UPC 6 944922 800734) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall: Weddel Ltd. recalls Hereford brand Chopped Ham (340g pkgs; Product codes 06/26/2020, 08/13/2020, 09/10/2020; UPC 8 85512 90152 2) due to possible bone fragments in the product. The recalled product was supplied to retailers nationwide.

Food Recall: Nutrisoya Foods Inc. recalls Kirkland Signature brand Organic Fortified Soy Beverage Original (946 mL; Best by 2018MA06; Lot no. 710059211; UPC 0 96619 67324 7), because the Tetra Pak cartons may swell due to a microbiological spoilage issue. The recalled product was supplied to retailers nationwide.

Allergy Alert (UK): Frohwein’s recalls Frohwein’s Beef Sausages (varying weights; all Use By dates from 4 August through 26 August 2017) due to undeclared mustard and soya, and also recalls Frohwein’s Beef Pickled Briskets (flat and rolled; varying weights; all Use By dates from 10 August through 31 August 2017) due to undeclared mustard and celery.

Food Safety Recall (Austria, France, Germany): FROMI GmbH recalls Morbier coque – Morbier Tradition raw cow’s milk cheese (Lot 150; Best by 26.08.17 – 28.08.17 – 29.08.17 – 04.09.17; Manufactured in France by Monts de Joux) due to possible contamination with Shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli 026:H11.

Food Safety Recall (Sweden): Salico AB recalls pre-cut apple slices (Best before August 23, 24, 25 and 26, 2017; sold in bags to McDonalds in the Nordic region) due to metal particles.

Outbreak Alert Update: The Salmonella outbreak linked to consumption of Yellow Maradol Papayas from Mexico has grown to 173 cases reported in 21 states.

Allergy Alert: United Trading Inc. recalls Gazab Green Raisins (Chinese) (7 ounce and 14 ounce clear packages; UPC 841970015218 and 841970015225, respectively) due to undeclared sulfites. The recalled product was distributed in IL, MN, WI, IN, FL, MI, and TX in retail stores that sell Indian grocery products.

Food Safety Recall: Fair Oaks Farms, LLC recalls BREAKFAST Best FULLY COOKED ORIGINAL PORK SAUSAGE PATTIES (2-lb. plastic sleeve packages; Sell by 05/15/2018) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was shipped to distribution and retail locations in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Food Safety Recall: Spanish Sonrise Dairy recalls whole retail raw milk (half-gallon glass bottles; Expiry August 23) due to contamination with shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli. The recalled product was sold directly to private customers and at one retail store in Washington State.

Food Safety Recall/Outbreak Alert: K-Bar Dairy (Paradise, TX) recalls unpasteurized milk because it may be contaminated with Brucella bacteria. A person who drank milk from the dairy has been hospitalized for an infection of a strain of Brucella bacteria.

Canada

Allergy Alert: D.J. Distributing recalls Lucky 7 brand 2 in 1 Instant Black Coffee (288 g (18 bags x 16 g); Mfg MAY 20 2016; Expiry MAY 19 2018; UPC 8 936015 504283) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in Ontario and Quebec.

Allergy Alert: Kuo Hua Trading Company Ltd. recalls Provence Mixed Seasoning (32g; Product code SCC 1120ETI04; UPC 4 710059 000314) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in British Columbia and Ontario.

Allergy Alert: Manufacturer recalls Wings brand Japanese style noodles due to undeclared egg. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were supplied to hotels, restaurants and institutional customers in Quebec.

Food Safety Recall Update: Pâtisserie Jessica Inc. and Produits Pâtisserie Michaud Inc. recall various mousse cakes containing raspberries due to potential Norovirus contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products, which were distributed to consumers in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, and may have been distributed nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: Marché du Village recalls Signature Spaghetti Sauce (500 mL and 1 L; All lots sold up to and including August 21, 2017) due to possible contamination with metal fragments.
