United States

Outbreak Alert Update: North Dakota Department of Health reports its first case of E. coli O157:H7 illness linked to consumption of romaine lettuce. The outbreak has now spread to 26 states.

Food Safety Recall: Eddy Packing Co., Inc. recalls approximately 49,558 pounds of smoked sausage products due to foreign matter (hard plastic pieces) contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Texas All Grass-Fed recalls approximately 2,300 whole frozen chickens because of processing issues that may have permitted the growth of Salmonella or other bacteria. Please refer to the recall notice for additional product and distribution information.

Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Badger Botanicals, LLC recalls Green Suma, Red Suma, Green Hulu 2, and Red Hulu 2 kratom dietary supplements (250g pouches) due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were sold directly to consumers via the company website from January 1st, 2018 to April l 12th, 2018.

Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Maya Distribution, LLC recalls Dragon Kratom labeled bottles and sealed packages of encapsulated and raw powder product due to potential Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Alert: Gastronomie Concept inc. (Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, QC) urges consumers to thoroughly cook Gastronomie Concept burger de filet mignon (160g or 170g; all units sold up to and including May 3, 2018), as the cooking instruction on the product label is in error.

Food Safety Recall: Pastaga inc recalls Le Petit Coin Épicerie brand partially-preserved soups and sauces as the products were not preserved in a manner to their safety for consumption. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Update): K&K Foodliner recalls K&K Foodliner brand pork schnitzel products due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert (Netherlands): Abel’s Deli recalls Abel’s Deli brand Vegetable Medley (460g; Best before 05-05-2018 and 07-05-2018) due to undeclared walnuts.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Halal Food Chakirs SPRL recalls CHATAR brand powdered ginger (200g pouch; Lot #E170686; Expiry 2020) due to possible Bacillus cereus contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Scandic Food A/S recalls Svansø Dansk Lyng Honey (225g; Lot #L36; Best before 10/07/2019) due to foreign matter (metal) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): E. Leclerc recalls Tradizioni d’Italia brand Mozzarella di Buffala (Lot #101; Best before 11 May 2018) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Hong Kong): FICO International Ltd recalls Epoisses brand Fromages Mons Sas (250g; Lot #18043; Best before May 11, 2018; product of France) due to possible shiga-toxin producing E. coli contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Coles recalls Coles Mini Classics Ice Creams, Vanilla (360 mL; Best before 16/04/2020 and 17/04/2020) and Coles Mini Classics Ice Creams, Almond (360 mL; Best before 18/04/2020) due to possible foreign matter (metal fragment) contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Piller’s Fine Foods (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) recalls Black Kassel Piller’s Dry Aged D’Amour Salami (variable package weights; Best before May 12, 2018) and Black Kassel Piller’s Dry Aged Speck Smoked Prosciutto (variable package weights; Best before May 12, 2018) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were produced in Canada and were shipped to distribution centers in California, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and New York.

Food Safety Recall: Old Silvana Creamery, LLC (Arlington, WA) recalls Jim’s Jerseys brand and Guernsey Goodness brand whole retail raw milk (1/2 gallon and 1-gallon; Best by 12/15 through 12/23) due to presence of toxin-producing E. coli.

Canada

Outbreak Alert Update: Public Health Agency of Canada reports 30 confirmed cases of E. coli O157 illnesses associated with consumption of Romaine lettuce since the beginning of November. Twelve individuals have been hospitalized. One outbreak-related death has been reported. The source of the contaminated lettuce is under investigation. Outbreak cases have been reported in Ontario, (6), Quebec (5), New Brunswick (5), Nova Scotia (1), and Newfoundland and Labrador (13).

Allergy Alert: Bayan Grocers Inc. recalls various Polly Ann brand frozen dessert bars due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Ontario.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Imperial Caviar & Seafood recalls Imperial Caviar & Seafood brand and VIP Caviar Club brand Trout Roe, because the products may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Ontario and Quebec.

Allergy Alert (France): Kubizz B.V. recalls Montevergine Nougat Bar with Peanuts, Christmas Edition (Lot #25652565; Sold in Action stores between October 9, 2017 and November 30, 2017) due to undeclared egg albumen.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Aldi recalls Excellence brand Rôti de lapin au romarin/Roasted rabbit with rosemary (2×150 g; Lots 170336998 & 170336999; Best before 8/12/2017) due to detection of Salmonella in the spices used in the production of the recalled item.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Dirk Rossmann recalls Das Exquisite Heidelbeere Weiße Schokolade/The Exquisite Blueberry White Chocolate Bar (100g; Best before 24.03.2019) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Hong Kong): Jumbo Smart Development Limited recalls Mon petit brand Inovital Infant milk from 0 to 6 months (No. 1) (900g; Best before June 19, 2019; Manufactured by Lactalis International, France) and Mon petit brand Inovital Growing-up milk from 1 to 3 years (No.3) (900g; Best before June 21, 2019) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Australia and New Zealand

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Foodstuffs New Zealand recalls Pak’nSave brand NZ Beef Mince (Best before 17.12.17) as the product may contain soft plastic. The recalled product was sold only at Pak’nSave Papakura.

Public Health Alert: FDA Alerts Consumers about Risk of Antibiotic-Resistant Brucella Linked to Raw Milk from Udder Milk Co-Op. Please refer to the FDA notice for complete details. FDA has been unable to contact Udder Milk to request a recall.

Public Health Alert: USDA/FSIS advises consumers that approximately 6,907 pounds of chicken products produced by Productos Dany, Inc., a Hatillo P.R. establishment, may contain products that have been recalled because they contain previously recalled ingredients. Please refer to the Public Health Alert for complete details on the affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Puerto Rico.

Allergy Alert: Missa Bay LLC recalls Fresh Prep’D brand Buffalo Style Ranch Wrap Kit (2-lb packages containing 4 8-oz. trays; Use by 11/21/17) due to undeclared peanut and soy. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Indiana and New Jersey.

Food Safety Recall: Trafon Group recalls approximately 297,828 pounds of chicken and pork products that were not presented at the U.S. point-of-entry for inspection. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail, hotel, restaurant and institutional locations in Puerto Rico.

Food Safety Recall: Trader Joe’s recalls certain fresh salads that may contain pieces of glass and/or hard plastic. Please refer to the recall notice for complete details of the affected products and the states to which they were shipped.

Food Safety Recall: Casa Sanchez Foods expands its earlier recall to include all Real Guacamole and Spicy Guacamole products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products were distributed throughout California, Nevada and Hawaii.

Food Safety Recall: Goya de Puerto Rico recalls Goya Adobo with Cumin Seasoning (28 ounces plastic jar; Best by 10/18/22) and Goya Adobo with Pepper Seasoning (28 ounces plastic jar; Best by 10/23/22) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were distributed in Puerto Rico through retail stores.

Food Safety Recall: S & D Dairy LLC recalls its Chocolate Milk product (Code date November 25) due to underpasteurization. The recalled product was sold Winner’s Meat and Grocery in Osgood, OH and Davis Meats of Sidney, OH.

Allergy Alert: Thai United Food Trading Ltd. recalls Vinh Thuan brand Rice Flour for Cake (400g; Expiry 30/08/2018; UPC 8 934734 212038) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was distributed to retailers in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

Allergy Alert: Dépanneur Forget (Montreal, QC) recalls Ciabatta Bread Baguettes (All lots sold through November 20, 2017) due to sesame seeds, soy and nuts.

Europe

Allergy Alert (Germany): Lubs GmbH recalls Raw-Delicious Cocoa Mint Protein Food Bar (Expiry dates 25.07.18, 24.08.18) due to undeclared gluten.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Skare Øst Aps recalls Chopped Pork and Veal, 10% max (500g package; Best before 24.11.2017) and Chopped Pork and Veal, 10% max (1000g package Best before 23.11.2017) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Franken-Gut Fleischwaren GmbH recalls Zwiebelmettwurst/Onion Sausage (Batch No. 311) due to contamination with Verotoxin-producing E. coli (VTEC).

Australia and New Zealand

Allergy Alert (Australia): Monde Nissin Australia recalls Nudie Brekkie with real berries, real coconut milk & real oat (250 mL; Best before 24 Mar 18) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold in Coles and Woolworths nationally.

Allergy Alert (Australia): Vodka Cruiser Sunny Orange Passionfruit (275 ml bottles, sold in mixed packs; packed from 9/10/2017 to 13/11/2017 (non promotional pack) & Packed from 27/09/2017 to 30/10/2017 (promotional pack)) due to undeclared tartrazine (Colour 102). The recalled product was sold in major and independent liquor outlets across Australia.
