OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC and FDA are investigating an outbreak of Hepatitis A virus that has sickened five people in the state of Washington, and hospitalized two of them. The outbreak has been traced to frozen organic strawberries. Please refer to the recall notices, below, for additional details.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Sweden): Sweden’s Public Health Agency has received reports of 79 confirmed cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to consumption of eggs. The outbreak strain was found in the production environment of an egg producer at the turn of the year.

Food Safety Recall (UK): Aldi recalls Plant Menu Organic Super Firm Tofu (200g; Use by 13 April 2023 and 14 April 2023) because of a temperature control issue that could potentially spoil the product, which may be unsafe to eat. The issue only affects product sold at a limited number of Aldi stores in the Midlands.

Food Safety Recall (Israel): The Green Magic” at Kfar Maimon D.N. Negev recalls Frozen Organic Wheatgrass Juice (All expiration dates) because the product was manufactured without a license and without pasteurization, in an improper sanitary condition, and medical properties were attributed to it.
