United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC reports an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to Coconut Tree brand Frozen Shredded Coconut. As of January 16th, 25 cases were reported in 9 states: California (9), Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Massachusetts (2), New Jersey (1), New York (1), Oklahoma (1), Pennsylvania (5), Washington (4). On January 3, tests performed by the Massachusetts Deparment of Public Health detected Salmonella in a sample of Coconut Tree Brand Frozen Shredded Coconut, resulting in a nationwide recall of the product, which was distributed in Ohio, Massachusetts, Washington, California, and Oklahoma with redistribution to Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York Pennsylvania, Oregon, Florida, and Texas.

Allergy Alert: Whole Foods Market stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island recall Cheesecake Bars (PLU #240801; Sold between May 2017 and January 12, 2018) due to undeclared almond flour. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of stores in which the product was sold.

Allergy Alert: Café Spice GCT Inc. recalls Southwest-style Chicken Wrap ready-to-eat Chicken Salad product (15-oz. clamshell package; Best by Jan. 20, 2018) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert: Palmer Candy Company recalls Sea Salt Caramel Hearts (12-oz tub; Best by 12/21/18; UPC 77232-17091) due to undeclared peanuts. The recalled product was sold only at Bomgaars Supply Inc. Store in the Midwest States.

Allergy Alert: Hiland Dairy recalls Hiland Dairy Orange Juice (1 gal; Sell by 02/05/18; Plant Code 3108; UPC 0-7206000586-8) and Tampico Citrus Punch (1 gal; Sell by  03/09/18; Plant Code 3108; UPC 0-9518801128-3) due to undeclared milk.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Le Boucan boucherie Inc (Quebec, QC) recalls Beef meat paté and Mexican paté (all batches) due to undeclared milk, almonds, nuts, peanuts and egg.

Allergy Alert (UK): New World Imports (UK) Ltd recalls Kam Yuen Crab Roe Flavour Sunflower Seeds (138g; Best before 18/03/18; Batch code 2017/07/18 (Chinese text) 4D) due to undeclared peanuts.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): King Solomon Trading BVBA recalls Banku-Mix fermented banku flour (1kg; Manufacturer’s lot #B170616; King Solomon’s lot #L17-03867; Best before 30/06/2019) due to elevated aflatoxin levels.

Allergy Alert: Condies Foods recalls Veggie Cup (Item #40781; Use through 01/05/2018) due to undeclared milk and egg. The recalled product was supplied to Coremark Distribution centers, which distributed the product to stores in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Nebraska, Utah and Wyoming.

Allergy Alert: California Popsicle, Inc. (dba Polly Ann Ice Cream) recalls various Ice Bars due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Crescent City Meats recalls TASSO CAJUN SPICY HAM READY TO EAT (5-lb vacuum packs; Lots 1631317, 1635517, and 1635217 or 35217) due to underprocessing. The recalled product was distributed for institutional use in the New Orleans metropolitan area.

Food Safety Recall: Fieldbrook Foods Corporation recalls Tops brand Orange Cream Bars (12-ct. retail box; Best by December 18, 2018) and Purple Cow Orange Cream Bars (12-ct. retail box; Best by November 30, 2018) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall: Evershing International Trading Company recalls Coconut Tree Brand Frozen Shredded Coconut (16-oz plastic bags: Lot SE07A1; UPC 05216-44081) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Allergy Alert: Healthy Body Services recalls Soy Complete brand Plant-based protein shake – vanilla (544g; Product code 544-LOT# ANFY12117 EXP: MAY 2019 REG#1562 03/05/2017; UPC 6 65553 21748 2) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was distributed to retailers nationwide.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Imperial Caviar & Seafood recalls VIP Caviar Club Salmon Roe and Imperial Caviar and Seafood Whitefish Roe due to because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Please refer to the recall notice for complete details of the affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Ontario and Quebec.

Food Safety Recall: Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. recalls Kirkland Signature brand All Butter Croissants from certain stores in Ontario due to possible presence of plastic. Please refer to the recall notice for specifics on the affected products and a list of stores.

Food Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Limited recalls PC brand Sweet Chipotle Prepared Mustard (180 mL; Product code 2018 AL 12; UPC 0 60383 01392 9) due to possible presence of glass. The recalled product was distributed in retail stores nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: Old Country Sausage recalls Old Country Sausage Shop brand Grass Fed Bison Pepperoni Sticks (163g; Product code LYKFR Best Before Date January 24, 2018) due to pieces of metal. The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in Alberta.

Outbreak Alert: The CDC is investigating an outbreak of 17 E. coli O157:H7 infections in 13 states: California (3), Connecticut (2), Illinois (1), Indiana (1), Michigan (1), Nebraska (1), New Hampshire (2), New York (1), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (1), Virginia (1), Vermont (1) and Washington (1). Tests are underway to determine whether or not these illnesses are related to a similar outbreak in Canada (see below).

Allergy Alert: New Seasons Market recalls New Seasons Market Macaroni and Cheese (UPC codes 252089, 203999, 252090, 706991; Sell by dates up to Jan 02, 2018) due to undeclared egg. The recalled products were sold in New Seasons Market locations in  Oregon, Washington and Northern California.

Allergy Alert: Daisy’s Bakery Inc. (Clifton, NJ) recalls Gourmet Concha (4-oz. pkg; Lot Nos. 441, 442, 443, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448, 449, 450, 451, 452, 453, 454, 455, 456, 457, 458, 459, 460, 461, 462, 463, 464, 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470 and 471) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were sold New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois and North Carolina in retail stores through direct delivery.

Food Safety Recall: T. Marzetti Company recalls various Frozen Biscuit Dough products (All Best by dates) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Food Safety Recall: Swift Beef Company recalls approximately 4,702 pounds of beef stew product that may be contaminated with plastic and metal. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to HEB retail stores in Texas.

Food Safety Recall: Osamu Corporation recalls Tuna Fillet Saku (All lots and pack sizes; Product of Indonesia) due to elevated mercury levels. The recalled product was distributed to Defense Commissary Agency stores.

Canada

Outbreak Alert (Update): PHAC reports 41 cases of E. coli O157:H7 in Ontario (8), Quebec (14), New Brunswick (5), Nova Scotia (1), and Newfoundland and Labrador (13). The outbreak appears to be associated with consumption of Romaine lettuce; however, no specific brand or source of lettuce has yet been identified. Seventeen of the outbreak victims required hospitalization, and one person has died. Victims range in age between 3 and 85 years; 73% are female. The outbreak may also be linked to cases of E. coli O157:H7 illness under investigation in the USA (see above).

Food Safety Recall (Czech Republic): CEDES LOGISTIK s.r.o. recalls AMILK infant nutrition formula (2 x 300g; Batch & Expiry date: 0000053236 (DMT: 27.02.2019), 0000073337 (DMT: 03.10.2019), 0000053059 (DMT: 15.02.2019), 0000055012 (DMT: : 06.04.2019), 0000067902 (DMT: 07.08.2019); Product of France) due to suspected Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Könecke Fleischwarenfabrikation GmbH recalls heated, ready-to-eat chicken breast fillets, mini chicken steak, chicken wings and chicken snacks due to possible Listeria contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Luxembourg): Könecke Fleischwarenfabrikation GmbH recalls Gutfried Mini Hahnchensteak (160 gr; Best before 6/1/2018; Product of Germany) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold in Supermarchés Cactus outlets.
