OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA reports that the outbreak of acute non-viral hepatitis in Southern Nevada has grown to include eleven confirmed and one suspect case. The illnesses are associated with consumption of Real Water brand bottled Alkaline Water.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is working with the CDC to identify the source of an outbreak of fifteen E. coli O145:H28 illnesses. No other details have been released.

Allergy Alert: Basic Grain Products, Inc. recalls Kroger and Stop & Shop brand’s Caramel Rice Cakes due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Velvet Ice Cream recalls all of its ice cream and sherbet products made on or after March 24, 2021 due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (SWEDEN): An outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections that has sickened 32 people in 15 counties has been linked to consumption of Eldorado brand Chocolate Wafers.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA continues to investigate an outbreak of acute non-viral hepatitis illnesses in the Southern Nevada Health District, linked to consumption of “Real Water” brand Alkaline Water. FDA has completed an inspection of the company’s production facilities in Henderson, NV and Mesa, AZ and is in the process of reviewing the information obtained during its inspections.

Allergy Alert: Lake Champlain Chocolates recalls Mr. Goodtime Bunny (3.25 lb; Best By 11/20/21) due to undeclared almonds.

Allergy Alert: Blount Fine Foods recalls Panera at Home Lobster Bisque (16-oz cups; Lot #030821-11K; Use by 5/17/2021) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert: Jose Madrid Salsa recalls Strawberry Mild salsa (13-oz jars; Sold from 3/26/2018-3/29/2021 at farmers markets and certain retail stores in Ohio) due to undeclared anchovy.

Food Safety Recall: JBS USA Food Company recalls 95CL BONELESS BEEF PRODUCT OF AUSTRALIA (60-lb cardboard boxes; Packed on 02-SEP-20; Australian EST. 4) due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The meat was shipped to distributors and further processors in New York and Pennsylvania.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (NORWAY): An outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis affecting 22 people (10 hospitalized) has been traced by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) to a batch of contaminated beef imported from Germany. Separately, the NFSA has found Salmonella Typhimurium in a batch of pork from the same German company. No illnesses were associated with the contaminated pork.
