United States

Allergy Alert: Landies Candies Co. Inc. recalls WEGMANS Milk Chocolate Big Ear Bunny Sucker (3 oz. net wt; Lot #35016; Best by 9-15-2017) due to undeclared peanuts.

Allergy Alert: Rochester Meat Company (Rochester, MN) recalls various pork sausage products due to undeclared monosodium glutamate. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Outbreak Alert (Update): CDC reports that four additional people have been confirmed to have been infected with E. coli O157:H7, increasing the confirmed case count to 16 people in 9 states. Fifteen (100%) of the 15 people reached for interview reported either eating I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter at home (nine people) in the week before they became ill, attending a facility that served I.M. Health brand SoyNut Butter (two people), or attending childcare centers that served I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter and I.M. Healthy brand granola coated with SoyNut Butter (four people).

Food Safety Recall: The Soynut Butter Co. expands its earlier recall to include all varieties of I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butters and all varieties of I.M. Healthy Granola products due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. The expanded recall encompasses all Best By dates, flavors and package sizes.

Food Safety Recall: Vulto Creamery (Walton, NY) recalls all lots of Ouleout, Miranda, Heinennellie, and Willowemoc soft wash-rind raw milk cheeses after FDA finds Listeria monocytogenes in Ouleout Lot #617 and the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets finds possible contamination in Ouleout Lot #623. The recalled cheeses were distributed nationwide, with most sold in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, California, Chicago, Portland, and Washington, DC.

Food Safety Recall: F.B. Packing Co. Inc. (Boston, MA) recalls various shaved beef products that may be contaminated with plastic. Please refer to the recall notice for detailed information.

Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: A&H Focal Inc. recalls all lots of 21 different dietary supplements for male sexual enhancement, because many of these products have been historically tested by the FDA and found to contain PDE-5 Inhibitors (i.e. sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, etc.) which is the active ingredient in an FDA-approved drug for erectile dysfunction (ED) making these tainted dietary supplements unapproved drugs. Canada

Allergy Alert: Uncle Tom’s Farm Ltd. recalls The Cider Keg Apple BBQ Grilling Sauce (250 mL; all codes) due to undeclared anchovy. The recalled product was sold in Ontario and British Columbia.

Allergy Alert: Fruiterie du Plateau inc. (Montreal, QC) recalls Jambon cuit en tranches/Sliced Cooked Ham (all lots) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: JD Sweid Foods (2013) Ltd. recalls Hampton House brand Chicken Strips (1.5 kg; All best before dates from January 20, 2018 through February 11, 2018) due to an error in preparation insructions on the label. The oven preparation instructions on the label should read: “Preheat to 204°C (400°F)”. The product may contain harmful bacteria that may cause food illnesses. The recalled chicken strips were sold at Costco Canada stores in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Colruyt recalls Carbonades de boeuf préparée/Beef stew (600g; Best before 6/3/2017, 24/3/2017, 25/3/2017, 26/3/2017, 30/3/2017, 02/4/2017, 03/4/2017, 08/4/2017, 10/4/2017 and 16/4/2017) due to undeclared mustard.

Allergy Alert (Denmark): ZipVit Ltd. recalls ZV Whey Protein 80 (500g; All batches and date codes) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Finland): Vitaseege Oy Ab recalls Saitaku Miso Soup (72g; Best by 08/11/2017) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Avoca recalls Avoca Food Market Tomato Chutney (320g; all best before dates between 20th April 2018 and 22nd February 2019) due to undeclared mustard and sulphites.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): Colruyt recalls Carbonades de boeuf préparée/Beef stew (600g; Best before 06/03; 24/03; 25/03; 26/03; 30/03; 02/04; 03/04; 08/04; 10/04; 16/04) due to undeclared mustard.

Allergy Alert (Hong Kong): Tesco recalls Spaghetti Bolognese (400g; Product of Ireland; All batch codes) due to undeclared egg.

Australia and New Zealand

Allergy Alert (Australia): Tasman Foods International Pty Ltd recalls Chan’s Yum Cha at home Seafood Prawn Hargow dumplings (1 kg cardboard box; All best before dates up to and including 01.12.2018; Product of Vietnam) due to undeclared egg and soy.

Allergy Alert (New Zealand): Hellers Ltd. recalls Hellers brand Sweet & Sticky Pork Ribs (Best Before: 08/03/17 through 12/04/17) due to undeclared sesame.

  • Allergy Alert: The Gift Shop at Buffalo Trace Distillery recalls Bourbon Flavored Caramel Sauce, Bourbon Flavored Fudge Sauce, Marinade for Meat, Barbeque Sauce and Hot Barbeque Sauce due to undeclared milk, soy, wheat, and/or anchovy.
  • Outbreak Alert: The Hawaii Department of Health is investigating nine cases of E. coli O157:H7 illness, including three adults and six children. Three of the children have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome. Eight of the victims are residents of Oahu; the ninth is a Canadian visitor to the state.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: La Charcutière (Laval, QC) recalls la Pizza Romarin, due to undeclared milk protein.
  • Food Safety Recall: Boucherie Laurentienne ltée (Wentworth-Nord, QC) together with William J Walter and S. Bourassa retailers in various locations, recalls a number of sausage and other pork products, because the products were not manufactured in a manner that ensures microbiological safety.

Europe

  • Allergy Alert (Ireland): Gallagher’s Bakery warns that Gallagher’s Bakery Lo-GI Farmhouse Loaf contains undeclared milk powder and whey powder.
  • Food Safety Recall (Italy): Organic Oils Italia Srl (Perugia) recalls Olio di lino biologico “crudigno” / “Crudigno” Organic Linseed Oil due to a chemical hazard.
  • Medical Device Safety Recall (France): LifeScan recalls OneTouch Verio IQ and OneTouch Verio Pro blood glucose meters, because the meters produce erroneous readings at extremely elevated blood glucose levels.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • Food Safety Alert (China): Channelnewsasia reports that the Chinese partner of Hero Group, a major Swiss baby formula manufacturer, has been accused of adulterating Hero’s production and a senior official has been detained. According to state media, the Xile Lier company had been mixing out-of-date formula with supplies imported under its partnership agreement with Hero.

Australia and New Zealand

  • Outbreak Alert (NSW, Australia): NSW Health is urging people who have had diarrhoea not to swim in pools until at least two weeks after they have fully recovered following an increase in cryptosporidiosis in NSW. There have been 484 cases of cryptosporidiosis reported to NSW Health to date this year.

  • Allergy Alert: See’s Candies, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) recalls Divinity Easter Egg with Walnuts (1.7 oz; Code L.A.D. 102/13), because some boxes may actually contain Peanut Butter Eggs. The recalled product was distributed to See’s shops in Arizona, California, Nevada, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.
  • Food Safety Recall: Charley’s Food Design recalls Charley’s Fire Roasted Salsa – Original Mild (16 oz; UPC 79450406183; Sell-by dates April 1, 2013 through April 30, 2013), Charley’s Fire Roasted Salsa – Smoothie (16 oz; UPC 79450406193; Sell-by dates April 1, 2013 through April 30, 2013), Charley’s Fire Roasted Salsa – Medium Hot (16 oz; UPC 79450406203; Sell-by dates April 1, 2013 through April 30, 2013) and Fatt Daddy’s Fire Roasted Salsa – Coma (16 oz; UPC 79450406213; Sell-by dates April 1, 2013 through April 30, 2013), due to reports of product bloating.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • Oral Medicine Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Department of Health warns members of the public not to buy or consume the oral product known as Fu Fang Feng Shi Gu Kang Ling Jiao Nang, as it has been found to contain several undeclared Western medicines, including prednisone, diclofenac, indomethacin, ibuprofen, piroxicam and metoclopramide.

Australia and New Zealand

  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert (Australia): The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) reports that the purported herbal medicine, My Slimmer Me (soft gel capsules) contains the undeclared prescription substance sibutramine in addition to a sibutramine impurity with unknown health risks. The supply in Australia of My Slimmer Me is illegal.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert (Australia): The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) reports that the GNY Australia products MSV Strong Version soft gel capsules, ESV Extra Strong Version soft gel capsules and RL Rapid Loss soft gel capsules contain the undeclared prescription substance sibutramine in addition to a sibutramine impurity with unknown health risks. The supply in Australia of these products is illegal.
