Allergy Alert: Épicerie Claude Mathieu (Saint-Benjamin, QC) recalls Cretons au porc maison (Variable portion sizes; All product sold up to and including May 11, 2018; UPC 0260599003473) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Aliments Eduardo (Montreal, QC) recalls all products manufactured between December 27, 2017 and May 10, 2018, as the items were not manufactured under conditions that would assure they were safe for human consumption.

Food Safety Recall: Four Seasons Marketplace Inc. recalls Four Seasons Marketplace brand Apple Cider Smoked Salmon (Best before 2018MA23 and 2018MA29; UPC starts with 0204051) and Four Seasons Marketplace brand Vodka Smoked Salmon (Best before 2018MA 23; UPC starts with 0204028) because the products may permit growth of Clostridium botulinum. The recalled items were distributed to retailers in Ontario.

Food Safety Recall: Les Dépendances recalls Haute Montagne brand Reblochon de Savoie (AOP) au lait cru raw milk cheese (450-550g; All lots starting with 8CR; UPC 8 31014 00139 0) due to E. coli O26 contamination. Although no illnesses have been reported in Canada, there have been reports of illnesses in France associated with consumption of this product.

Food Safety Recall: Whole Foods Market recalls Whole Foods Market brand Reblochon Cheese “raw cow cheese” (variable package sizes; All “Packed On” dates from March 20, 2018 up to and including May 15, 2018; UPC starts with 0293524) due to E. coli O26 contamination. Although no illnesses have been reported in Canada, there have been reports of illnesses in France associated with consumption of this product.

Europe

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recalls (France): The Ministry of Health has confirmed seven severe cases of E. coli O26 illnesses in young children associated with consumption of a raw milk cheese manufactured in Cruseilles (Haute-Savoie) by Chabert. As a precaution, the company has recalled all production lots of Fromage AOP reblochon laitier au lait cru manufactured in its Cruseilles facility. Cheese manufactured in other production plants owned by Chabert are not affected by this recall. Please refer to the information posted on the government site for additional details. The recalled products were sold in France and exported to all of the following countries: Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Mali, Mauritius, Netherlands, Portugal, Roumania, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lidl Ireland recalls Harvest Basket Filled Potato Croquettes – Spinach & Mozarella and Harvest Basket Filled Potato Croquettes – Cream Cheese & Herbs (600g; All dates) due to undeclared milk.

United States

OUTBREAK ALERT (UPDATE): One person has died and 121 individuals in 25 states have been infected with a strain of E. coli O157:H7, according to the latest report from CDC. Fifty-two (52) people have been hospitalized, including 14 who have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (a form of kidney failure). The illnesses are linked to consumption of romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region.

OUTBREAK ALERT: FDA advises consumers to avoid potentially contaminated raw oysters from British Columbia. The oysters have been linked to an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness in three Canadian provinces. Some of the cases have been confirmed as Norovirus. Food Safety News reports that California has experienced 100 cases of Norovirus-like illnesses linked to consumption of the raw oysters.

Allergy Alert: Stonewall Kitchen recalls Stonewall Kitchen brand Basil Pesto Aioli (10.25 oz; Use by 28 Sep 2019) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert: Utz® Quality Foods, LLC recalls certain select expiration dates of some Golden Flake, Good Health, Utz and Weis Brand Tortilla Chip items due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for complete details on the affected products, which were distributed to retail outlets in AL, AR, AZ, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WV.

Food Safety Recall: Seabear Company recalls Gerard & Dominique Seafoods brand Cold Smoked Wild Coho Salmon Lox (3 oz.; Lot #CSCO-17339; Pack Date 17-340) due to potential Clostridium botulinum contamination. The recalled product was distributed directly to distributors in CA, MD, and WA between 12/8/17 and 4/10/18 and it may have been further distributed and sold through retail stores at least in these states.

Food Safety Recall: JBS USA, Inc. recalls approximately 35,464 pounds of raw ground beef products due to foreign matter (hard plastic) contamination. Outbreak Alert (Update): CDC reports that 53 people in 16 states have been infected with E. coli O157:H7 after consuming romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. Thirty-one of the outbreak victims have been hospitalized. CDC urges consumers to avoid romaine lettuce grown in the Yuma, Arizona growing region. A specific grower and/or packer has not been identified.

Allergy Alert: McCall Farms, Inc. recalls Happy Harvest Canned Spinach (13.5 oz; Lot code A23IX; Best by January 2021; UPC 041498131289) due to potential undeclared peanut. The recalled product was available in ALDI stores in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Allergy Alert: Eataly USA recalls Eataly Artichoke Spread (7 oz/200g; Expiry 05.12; UPC 612067) due to undeclared walnuts. The recalled product was sold at Eataly Flatiron in New York City.

Food Safety Recall: Giant Eagle recalls multiple items prepared with romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected items, which were sold in Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo locations across western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.

Food Supplement Safety Recall: NGB Corp. recalls NxtGen Botanicals Maeng Da Kratom (500mg capsules; Lot #171409) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall: OC Raw Dog, LLC recalls OC Raw Dog Freeze Dried Sardines (3.2-oz bag; UPC 095225853043) because some of the sardines in the packages exceed 5″ in length. According to FDA, salt-cured, dried, or fermented uneviscerated fish longer than 5″ are at risk of harboring Clostridium botulinum.

Outbreak Alert: The Public Health Agency of Canada is collaborating with federal and provincial public health partners to investigate norovirus and gastrointestinal illnesses in three provinces linked to raw oysters from British Columbia. Illnesses have been reported in British Columbia (92), Alberta (9), and Ontario (25). Two BC oyster farms implicated in the outbreak have been closed.

Allergy Alert: KZ Clean Eating recalls Katrin Zytomierska brand Protein Bread Mix (240g; Best Before: 30.06.2018, Lot: 23 10 17 and Best Before: 30.11.2018, Lot: 07 02 18; UPC 7 350072 260011) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was sold nationwide.
