Allergy Alert: Chunwei, Inc. recalls approximately 65,023 pounds of various ready-to-eat and raw meat and poultry products due to undeclared soy, wheat, dairy, egg, sesame and monosodium glutamate (MSG). Allergy Alert: Ottogi America, Inc. recalls Jin Ramen Mild (5.16-oz 5-pack; Best Before Aug. 19th 2019) and Jin Ramen Spicy (5.16-oz 5-pack; Best Before Aug. 20th 2019) due to undeclared egg.

OUTBREAK ALERT (UPDATE): PHAC is investigating an outbreak of 22 confirmed E. coli O157:H7 illnesses linked to consumption of Romaine lettuce. The source of the contaminated lettuce has not yet been confirmed. Outbreak cases have been reported in New Brunswick (1), Quebec (17) and Ontario (4).

Allergy Alert: Mission Hill Family Estate recalls Chukar brand Amaretto Rainiers Cherries (7.5 oz; Best by 09/2019; UPC 0 11261 22307 7) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was supplied to consumers in British Columbia.

Allergy Alert: Farm Boy recalls Sweets Sucreries brand Dark Chocolate Covered Cranberries (220g; Product codes 19 JAN 23 and 19 FE 06; UPC 7 79245 97181 8) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in Ontario.

Retailers remove Romaine lettuce from their stores

Retailers across the USA and Canada are removing Romaine lettuce and products containing Romaine lettuce from their stores in response to alerts issued today by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

Epidemiological evidence in both countries has linked consumption of Romaine lettuce to an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses in eleven US states and two Canadian provinces.

Traceback investigations are in progress to determine the source of the contaminated Romaine.

The following US supermarket chains and food stores have alerted customers to the illness outbreak and, in many cases, have removed all products containing Romaine from their stores:

OUTBREAK ALERT: FDA, CDC and state and local agencies are investigating an 11-state outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses linked to romaine lettuce. The source of the implicated romaine has not yet been identified. This outbreak is linked to a concurrent outbreak in Canada.

Allergy Alert: First Source recalls Chocolate and Nut Tray (37oz net wt; Best Before 07/09/19; UPC 0 23637 43369 0) due to undeclared pecan and cashews. The recalled product was distributed to 98 Wegmans Food Markets in the states of MA, MD, NJ, NY, PA, and VA.

Allergy Alert: Deleite Foods Enterprises, Inc recalls frozen marinated chicken thigh meat diced – SUPC 7009466 (30-lb. cases each containing 3 10-lb. bags; Lot codes 101218, 101518, or 101618) due to undeclared wheat and soy. The recalled items were shipped to restaurants in Utah.

Allergy Alert: Jay Robb Enterprises recalls Unflavored Egg White Protein Product (24-oz stand-up pouches; Lot code 8080-2C3, manufactured 03/2018 and Lot code 8056-4C3, manufactured 02/2018) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: 165368 C. Corporation recalls an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat pork products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall: Swift Beef Co. recalls approximately 99,260 pounds of raw non-intact ground beef products due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
