Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): CDC and FDA have completed their investigation into an outbreak of 17 cases of E. coli O145:H28 illnesses in Florida and Georgia linked to consumption of frozen blueberries imported from Chile. Six of the 17 outbreak victims were hospitalized. The outbreak has now ended, according to the CDC.

Food Safety Recall: Star Meat Delivery Inc. recalls approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef, and goat products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection.

Food Safety Recall: Wakefern Food Corp. recalls Wholesome Pantry Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (23 oz; Best by June 16, 2027; UPC 04119005677) due to elevated levels of patulin (a mycotoxin).

Canada

Allergy Alert: Sakana-Ya Sushi inc. (Québec, QC) recalls Multiple varieties of Sakana-Ya brand sushi (All packages containing wasabi-style condiment) due to undeclared mustard.

Food Safety Recall: R.J. King Fisheries Ltd. recalls R.J. King Fisheries Ltd. and Moncton Fish Market brand frozen cooked lobster meat (Multiple Best before dates) due to Staphylococcus aureus contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Danone Canada recalls So Delicious Dairy Free brand Salted Caramel Non-dairy Frozen Dessert, Cashew Base (500 ml; Multiple best before dates; UPC 7 44473 27613 4) due to foreign matter contamination (plastic-like and gravel-like fragments).

Food Safety Recall (Hong Kong): Caves Asia Company Limited recalls American Pearl brand raw oysters (Harvest date September 14, 2026; Product of USA) due to excessive levels of E. coli.
