Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): CDC reports 20 cases of Salmonella Paratyphi B Variant L(+) Tartrate + infections in 12 states. The outbreak is linked to contact with pet turtles and 50% of the victims are less than 5 years old. Five people have been hospitalized.

USA (Update): CDC reports 37 cases of Hepatitis A virus infections in a four-state outbreak linked to frozen clams. Thirty people have been hospitalized.

Allergy Alert: Saratoga Potato Chips recalls J. HIGGS Loaded Bacon and Cheddar Potato Chips (7.75 oz; Best if used by DEC 11 26 and DEC 18 26; UPC 0-51933-31645-4) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall: Optimus Inc. d/b/a/ Markys Caviar recalls Mon Sire Brie, soft-ripened French cheese (1 kg; Lots 00000ZRAA1 and 00000ZUAD2; Expiry dates 08/15/2026 and 08/18/2026, respectively) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was distributed in Florida.

Food Safety Recall: Gias Foods recalls bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine (22 oz; Lots L6079C and L6080C; Expiration date 09/19/2027 and 09/20/2027, respectively; UPC 194346442706) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were sold at Walmart stores nationwide.

Allergy Alert: Marché Italanni (Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC) recalls Various products prepared and sold at their location due to undeclared soy, sesame, wheat and/or egg.

Food Safety Recall: Altra Foods Inc. recalls Yotvata brand Caciotta Peperoncino Cheese (250g; Lot code LUG 26; Best before 31-05-2027; UPC 8 00395 0003017) due to Staphylococcus aureus contamination.
