Outbreak/Illness Investigations

MULTIPLE EU COUNTRIES + UK: EFSA & ECDC report an 11-country outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbificans ST377 linked to alfalfa sprouted seeds. Outbreak infections (109 in total) have been reported by Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Traceability investigations in Italy identified a common seed supplier in India.

NORWAY: The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is investigating an outbreak of 15 cases of Yersinia enterocolitica infections (9 confirmed and 6 suspected). The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

Food Safety Recall Update (UK-Northern Ireland only): Traditional Cheese Company recalls Dunnes Stores Velvety & Mild French Brie (170g; Batch code 5099874213772; Use by 10, 16 and 17 July 2026) and Traditional Cheese Company French Brie (160g; Batch code 5099318001392; Use by 10 July 2026) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
