Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CHINA: The Ma’anshan Municipal Food and Drug Safety Committee Office responded to an outbreak of 33 cases of Clostridium perfringens illnesses among students who participated in a spring study tour at Daqingshan Wildlife Park, where they consumed a collective boxed lunch.

DENMARK: The Statens Serum Institut is investigating an outbreak of 8 cases of Salmonella Stanley sequence type (ST) 2045 since January 2026. The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

FINLAND: The Finnish Food Authority is investigating an outbreak of 32 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella Bovismorbificans during March–April 2026. The outbreak maybe linked to consumption of raw sprouts.

LEBANON: Lebanese authorities reported suspected foodborne illness cases in multiple schools and displacement shelters, affecting more than 250 individuals, linked to the consumption of a prepared meal by a catering company in Beirut. No hospitalizations were reported.

USA: CDC is investigating a new outbreak of 34 cases of Salmonella Saintpaul infections in 13 states. The outbreak, which has sent 13 victims to hospital so far, is linked to contact with backyard poultry.

Food Safety Recall: Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recalls certain powdered beverage mixes (Multiple lot codes and Best if used by dates) due to possible Salmonella contamination. This recall follows a California Dairies, Inc. milk powder recall due to a concern of potential Salmonella contamination, which was supplied to a third-party manufacturer and used as an ingredient in powdered beverage mixes.

Food Safety Recall: HEMU TRADING INC recalls ENOKI MUSHROOM (150g; Lot 215; UPC 8801234567893; Product of Korea) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Canada

Allergy Alert Update: Boucherie La Préférence (LaSalle, QC) recalls Chorizo style espagnol / Spanish-style chorizo sausage (Variable size; All lots) due to undeclared wheat.

Food Safety Recall: Heeva Fine Foods recalls Heeva Fine Foods brand Pistachio Nuts (200g; All units sold in 2025 and 2026; UPC 0 51061 00569 5) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
