Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CHINA: The Ma’anshan Municipal Food and Drug Safety Committee Office responded to an outbreak of 33 cases of Clostridium perfringens illnesses among students who participated in a spring study tour at Daqingshan Wildlife Park, where they consumed a collective boxed lunch.

DENMARK: The Statens Serum Institut is investigating an outbreak of 8 cases of Salmonella Stanley sequence type (ST) 2045 since January 2026. The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

FINLAND: The Finnish Food Authority is investigating an outbreak of 32 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella Bovismorbificans during March–April 2026. The outbreak maybe linked to consumption of raw sprouts.

LEBANON: Lebanese authorities reported suspected foodborne illness cases in multiple schools and displacement shelters, affecting more than 250 individuals, linked to the consumption of a prepared meal by a catering company in Beirut. No hospitalizations were reported.

USA: CDC is investigating a new outbreak of 34 cases of Salmonella Saintpaul infections in 13 states. The outbreak, which has sent 13 victims to hospital so far, is linked to contact with backyard poultry.

Food Safety Recall: Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recalls certain powdered beverage mixes (Multiple lot codes and Best if used by dates) due to possible Salmonella contamination. This recall follows a California Dairies, Inc. milk powder recall due to a concern of potential Salmonella contamination, which was supplied to a third-party manufacturer and used as an ingredient in powdered beverage mixes.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

UKRAINE: The Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating 75 cases of salmonellosis, including 9 children. The 75 patients have been hospitalized. Salmonella Enteritidis has been isolated from 6 of the patients.

USA: The Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) Health Department is investigating Salmonella infections linked to consumption of The Family Cow Brand Raw Milk and Raw-Milk Cheese. Four cases have been identified since July 1, 2025, and Pennsylvania Departments of Health and Agriculture have been working to identify the sources of more than 70 reported Salmonella infections since August 2024

Food Safety Recall: W.W. Industrial Group, Inc. recalls Parashore Pear Slices in juice (15 oz (425g) cans; Lot 3700/01172 6122J; Best by 2/19/2027) due to elevated levels of lead and cadmium.

Food Safety Recall: WINDY CITY ORGANICS LLC recalls SunBiotics Activated Almonds Infused with Probiotics, Oat Milk Chocolate (1 oz; Lot B3252; Expiration date 08/30/2026) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Jewel Osco recalls select items containing tuna salad supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were sold in Jewel Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.

Food Safety Recall: Natural Pastures Cheese Company Ltd. recalls Natural Pastures Cheese Company Ltd. brand Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese (variable package size; Batch no.  854 179) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
