Outbreak/Illness Investigations
HONG KONG: The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) has recorded 23 food poisoning cases since January 18, affecting 69 people. Twenty of the cases, involving 69 people were related to Norovirus. Five people were hospitalized. All of the cases were associated with consumption of raw oysters.
USA (Idaho): Idaho’s Central Health District is investigating an outbreak of 9 cases of shiga toxin-producing E. coli infections, including two children. Both children have been hospitalized and have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The illnesses are linked to raw milk produced by R Bar H dairy. The dairy has recalled all of its raw cow milk products and suspended production.
United States
Food Safety Recall: Khee Trading, Inc. recalls Frozen Half Shell Oysters (15-16 lb blocks. Multiple lot codes and Best by dates) due to possible Norovirus contamination.
Canada
Allergy Alert: Harnois Énergies inc. ( Mascouche, QC) recalls Salade d’Orzo (All lots) due to undeclared sulphites, and recalls Pains Gumbo / Gumbo bread (All lots) due to undeclared wheat, barley, and anchovy.
Ireland and United Kingdom
Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Danone recalls several Aptamil and Cow & Gate First Infant Milk and Follow on Milk formula products due to possible presence of cereulide toxin (produced by Bacillus cereus).
Food Safety Recall (UK – England, Scotland, Wales): Danone recalls several Aptamil and Cow & Gate First Infant Milk and Follow on Milk formula products due to possible presence of cereulide toxin (produced by Bacillus cereus).
Food Safety Recall (UK – Northern Ireland): Danone recalls several Aptamil and Cow & Gate First Infant Milk and Follow on Milk formula products due to possible presence of cereulide toxin (produced by Bacillus cereus).
Hong Kong and Singapore
Food Safety Recall (Hong Kong): HK Wukong Trading Limited recalls Aptamil brand Aptamil Profutura DUO Advance 1,800g (800g; Use by April 21, 2027; Product of Germany) due to possible presence of cereulide toxin (produced by Bacillus cereus).
Australia and New Zealand
Food Safety Recall (Australia): Harvest Road Oceans Pty Ltd recalls various Albany Rock Oysters (Harvest dates 02/02/2026 and 04/02/2026) due to E. coli contamination.
