Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Final update): CDC reports that an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis traced to shell eggs from Milo’s Poultry Farms LLC is now over. Ninety-three people in 12 states were confirmed to have been infected with the outbreak strain; 34 of the victims were hospitalized. The outbreak strain was recovered by the FDA from the packing facility and the hen egg laying house, and was also found in eggs recalled by the company.

USA: The FDA has opened a traceback investigation into a new outbreak of 23 cases of Salmonella Thompson linked to a not yet identified product.

United States

Food Safety Recall: TreeHouse Foods, Inc. recalls frozen waffle products due to potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed across the United States and Canada.

Food Safety Recall: Dakota Tom’s Sandwiches recalls Pepperjack Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger and The Gambler due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The burger patties used in these sandwiches were recalled by BrucePac. Please refer to the recall notice for information on the affected products and their distribution.

Food Safety Recall: Church Brothers, LLC recalls Imperial Fresh, Trader Joe’s, and Church Brothers brands of Green Onion Iceless (Lot code CB272378; Product of Mexico) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Multiple firms recall Various brands of Ham in Jelly (Jelly Pork) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products. This recall results from an investigation by CFIA into the source of a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak.

Food Safety Recall: Church Brothers, LLC recalls Imperial Fresh brand Sysco Green Onion Iceless (4 x 2 lbs; Pack date 1-269; UPC 760204) due to Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed to hotels, restaurants, and institutions across Canada.

United Kingdom and Ireland

Allergy Alert (UK): FGS Ingredients Ltd recalls several spice products that contain mustard due to undeclared peanuts. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert (UK): North South Wines Ltd recalls Chill Bill Spritzy Red Wine (75 cl; Lots L4011B1 & L4185B1) due to undeclared sulphites.
