United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC and USDA are investigating a four-state outbreak of Salmonella SaintPaul most likely associated with consumption of 80% lean ground beef purchased from ShopRite locations in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. Sixteen people are reported ill, and four of them have been hospitalized.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is conducting traceback investigations for a new outbreak 13 cases of E. coli O26, and a new outbreak of 39 cases of Cyclospora cayetanensis.

Allergy Alert: Rich Products recalls Member’s Mark Breaded Mozzarella Sticks (5-lb net wt. cardboard box; Best if used by 12/28/2024; UPC 078742226880) due to undeclared egg and soy.

Food Safety Recall: E B Express Provisions recalls approximately 622 pounds of the pork and beef bean stew products that were imported from an establishment in Brazil that is not eligible to export meat products to the United States. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of the recalled products.

Pet Food Safety Recall: What The Raw recalls Uneviscerated whole dried sardines (Individually packed in shrink wrap; Lots 250402202223, 121110202122, 210510202324, 141228202223, 210620202324; Expiration dates 11/10/22, 04/02/2023, 12/28/2023, 05/10/2023, 06/20/2024) due to potential Clostridium botulinum contamination.

Allergy Alert: 2372761 Ontario Inc. recalls Dried Sweet Potato Stripes and Dried Sweet Potato Slices (170g; All codes where sulphites and barley are not declared on the label; UPC 6 959899 321434 and 6 959899 321618) due to undeclared sulphites and barley.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Denmark): The Statens Serum Institut is investigating a new 14-case outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis. Work is underway to try and identify the source of the outbreak.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATIONS (UK): The UK Health Security Agency is monitoring clusters of gastrointestinal illness in travellers returning from Turkey. In total across the 5 clusters, between 15 January and 19 July 2023 there have been 241 confirmed cases with Salmonella Enteritidis infection, the majority of these with specimen collection dates from April onwards.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): AFSCA recalls Kambiz brand Iranian Sauce (230g; All batch codes and dates) due to undeclared milk.
