OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 14 confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 infections in 9 states, with 4 people hospitalized. According to FDA, the Minnesota officials found E. coli O157:H7 in a package of leftover Josie’s Organics baby spinach collected from a sick person’s home. Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) analysis is in progress to determine if the strain of E. coli O157:H7 present in the product sample matches the outbreak strain.
Allergy Alert: BUBS Naturals recalls Fountain of Youth Formula Collagen Protein Powder (10.16-ounce containers; Lots #04230401 & 5908501; Expiration dates 05/28/2022 & 07/13/2023, respectively) due to undeclared milk.
Food Safety Recall: Erie Meat Products Ltd. recalls approximately 1,224 pounds of GOLDEN MAPLE Chicken Bologna (12 x 2-lb vacuum-packed packages/case; Best before 2023-APR-13, 2023-APR-18 & 2023-MAY-03) that were imported and distributed into the United States without the benefit of FSIS import reinspection.

Food Safety Recall: La Cité Agricole (Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, QC) recalls POTAGE DE CAROTTE / Carrot soup (Sold up to 3 December 2021) and SAUCE SPAGHETTI BŒUF & PORC / Beef & pork spaghetti sauce (500 ml & 1 L jars; Sold up to 3 December 2021) due to lack of mandated labeling specifying that the products must be kept refrigerated.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Norway): The Norwegian Food Safety Authority reports that imported frozen raspberries were the probable cause of an outbreak of 20 cases of Hepatitis A infections between April and October of this year.
