Allergy Alert: Calise & Sons Bakery, Inc. recalls Golden Flax Seed Scala Bread (Julian date 327; Sell by date 12-06) due to undeclared sesame.


OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reports 17 additional cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections in an outbreak for which the source still has not been determined. In all, 63 cases have been confirmed in British Columbia (26), Alberta (21), Saskatchewan (4), Manitoba (11) and Ontario (1), and three people have been hospitalized. The Ontario case reported having traveled to Alberta before becoming ill. Many of the outbreak victims reported having consumed fresh produce.

Food Safety Recall: Sungiven Foods Canada Inc. recalls  One Tang brand Bitter Apricot Kernel (180g; Date code 2023.JN.20; UPC 6 28546 00724 8) due to the presence of amygdalin, a natural toxin that can cause cyanide poisoning.

Food Safety Recall (Québec): Retailers recall certain sesame seeds due to potential Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products.


Allergy Alert (Belgium): Les Délices recalls Deli Centre brand Merlans en Gelée / Jellied Whiting (fish) (720g; Lot #309; Use by 23/01/2022) due to undeclared peanuts.

Allergy Alert (France): Viandes CLERMONT recalls CLERMONT brand Galantine de faisan à l’Armagnac / Pheasant galatine with Armagnac (~2.8 kg; Lot #3260119545; Use by 02/01/2022) due to undeclared nuts.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): McDonald’s recalls McDonald’s Sweet‘N’Sour Dip (25 ml; Best before 23.02.22) due to undeclared mustard.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): AVE – Absolute vegan Empire GmbH & Co. KG  recalls Vantasic Foods brand Schakaberry (100g; Lots I39123471, I38423471, J40123491; Best before 16.09.2022 & 01.10.2022) due to undeclared peanuts.

Food Safety Recall (France): COOPERATIVE U recalls U brand PAIN DE MIE GRANDES TRANCHES AUX CEREALES / Thick-sliced bread (550g; Lot #05221328; Use by 18/12/2021) due to foreign matter (pieces of glass) contamination.
