United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: In response to a refusal on the part of Real Water, Inc. to make its records available to FDA during the agency’s investigation into an outbreak of 5 cases of non-viral hepatitis in southern Nevada, the FDA has issued a formal ‘Demand for Records’ under section 414 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The cases of non-viral hepatitis have been linked to consumption of “Real Water” brand Alkaline Water, manufactured by Real Water, Inc. and distributed in the greater Las Vegas, NV area, central California coastal region (North of Los Angeles, CA, and South from Santa Barbara, CA), and Phoenix, AZ.

Food Safety Recall: Kareem Mart recalls Kareem Chef brand “Halva,” “Halva with Pistachio” and “Halva with Chocolate” (1lb and 2lb plastic tubs; Best before 07-01-2022) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Trident Seafoods Corporation recalls Pacific Salmon Burgers (3 lbs. (48 oz.); Lot #GC101431; Best by 01/14/2023) due to possible foreign matter (small pieces of metal) contamination.

Allergy Alert: Aliments Naturello inc. (SmoothiesGo) recalls multiple SmoothiesGo brand smoothies due to undeclared soy, sesame, milk, wheat, mustard and sulphites. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Conagra Brands Canada Inc. recalls Heathy Choice brand Power Bowls Meatless Chipotle Chick’n (262g; Lot #5009019020; Best before 21AL04; UPC 0 72655 00230 2) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert: Soline Trading Ltd. recalls Thai Elephant brand Black Tiger Shrimp Headless Shrimp 13-15 (18.89 kg; Batch code HL-269-V20) due to undeclared sulphites.

Food Safety Recall: North Shore Specialty Foods recalls Kolapore Springs brand smoked trout and smoked trout, peppercorn (All best before dates up to and including 2021 MR 31) due to potential for growth of Clostridium botulinum in the products.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Heera Premium Quality Golden Sultanas (100g; Batch code M19720V; Best before  July 2022) contains undeclared sulphur dioxide.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Savana Milk Chocolate Raisins (175g; Best before 18/10/21) contains undeclared peanuts.
