United States

Public Health Alert: USDA (FSIS) issues public health alert for ready-to-eat chicken noodle soup products which claim to be ‘gluten-free’ even though wheat is an ingredient on the label. Please refer to the FSIS notice for details on the affected products.

Allergy Alert: Whole Foods Market recalls Cranberry Biscotti (Sell-by dates through April 3, 2021; PLU code 41712) due to undeclared tree nuts (pistachio). The recalled product was sold in six stores in six stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Advantage Health Matters Inc. recalls Organic Traditions brand Dried Bitter Apricot Kernels (227g; UPC 6 27733 00900 3; Multiple lot codes and expiry dates) due to potential for cyanide poisoning. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected lot codes.

Food Safety Recall: Pizzeria Sofia recalls Rosée – Sauce tomates et crème / Creamy tomato sauce (1 L jars; Sold up to and including 10 March 2021), because the product was manufactured and packed in a manner that may make it unsafe to consume.

Food Safety Alert: CFIA warns the public not to consume Our Father’s Farm brand Bitter Apricot Kernels (227g; UPC 7 18122 91750 1; Best Before 01-31-2022) and Our Father’s Farm brand Extremely Bitter Apricot Kernels (227g; UPC 7 18122 91760 0; Best Before 01-31-2022) due to potential for cyanide poisoning.

Europe

OUTBREAK ALERT (Norway): The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) is investigating a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak that has sickened at least 19 individuals. Three additional suspect cases are in the process of being confirmed. The NIPH has, in collaboration with the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, recovered the outbreak strain from a batch of beef imported from Germany. Infected individuals live in Viken (11), Oslo (3), Innlandet (2), Vestfold and Telemark (1), Agder (1), Rogaland (1), Vestland (1), Møre og Romsdal (1) and Nordland (1). Ten of the outbreak victims have been hospitalized.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Tastyoo recalls Tastyoo brand Tortiglione al ragu (400g; Lots 2947 & 2961; Expiry dates 12 & 13/03/2021) due to undeclared mustard, and Tastyoo brand Pain de volaille, purée de pommes de terre et choux rouge / Poultry meatloaf, mashed potatoes and red cabbage (400g; Lots 2966 & 2980; Expiry dates 12 & 13/03/2021) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Netherlands): Unilever recalls Unox Good Pasta Bolognese (All Lot codes and Best before dates) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert (UK): Yetka Foods recalls various confectionery products due to undeclared celery, mustard, pistachio (nuts), almonds (nuts), sesame and wheat (gluten). Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (France): Leclerc recalls NOS RÉGIONS ONT DU TALENT brand Mini Mont d’Or AOP Mini pièce + céramique et Mini pièce / cheese with and without ceramic piece (Lot #3053; Use by 01.04.21 – 02.04.21) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): Auchan recalls Galion brand Sucre de canne de Martinique / Cane sugar (Lot E 158) due to foreign matter (metal) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): Géantcasino recalls Casino brand Têtes de veau blanches avec langue sous vide / Calf heads with tongue (Sold between 04/03/2021 and 10/03/2021) due to foreign matter (3-4mm long stainless steel blade) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): MÜNNICH fromage GmbH & Co. KG recalls GRAINDORGE brand Camembert raw milk cheese (250g; Lot #270121LI13; Use by 07.04.2021) due to shiga toxin-producing E. coli contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Canis Purus recalls Canis Purus brand Rund Menu frozen sausage for dogs (500g & 1000g; Lot #201201; Best before 01/12/2021) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Singapore): Importers recall Lay Hong Berhad Layer Farm Shell Eggs (Farm code CES008; All batches; Product of Malaysia) due to Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.
