Canada

OUTBREAK ALERT: The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reports eight cases of Salmonella Typhimurium infections in British Columbia (5), Alberta (2), and Yukon (1). The illnesses are linked to exposure to Paws Up! and Western Family brands of pig ear dog treats. Three individuals have been hospitalized and one person has died. The supplier, Master’s Best Friend, has issued a Notice of Stop Sale for the implicated products, which were sold at Canadian Tire and Save-On-Foods stores.

Allergy Alert: Loblaw Companies Ltd. recalls President’s Choice brand Maple Apple flavour Seasoned Pork Loin Roast (730g; Best Before 2020 OC 13; UPC 0 60383 20663 5) due to undeclared mustard.

Food Safety Recall: Érablière Godbout recalls Érablière Godbout brand Sauce spaghetti (500 ml and 1 L; All units where the label does not mention “Keep Refrigerated”) because the product may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Food Safety Recall: JBS Food Canada ULC recalls Provigo brand and Metro brand raw ground beef products due to E. coli O157 contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products and distribution details.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Delhaize recalls Delhaize brand Pain de viande aux poireaux / Meat loaf with leeks (Lots #902679, 905217 & 907970; Best before 06/10/2020, 12/10/2020 & 15/10/2020, respectively) due to undeclared wheat (gluten).

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Colruyt recalls Colruyt brand salade de poulet méridionale / Southern chicken salad (150g; Best by 05/10/2020) due to undeclared soy.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): Delhaize recalls Delhaize brand Pain de viande aux poireaux / Meat loaf with leeks (Lots #902679, 905217 & 907970; Best before 06/10/2020, 12/10/2020 & 15/10/2020, respectively) due to undeclared wheat (gluten).

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): LEADER PRICE recalls LEADER PRICE brand Gorgonzola (150g; Lot #P230006; Best before 01/10/20) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Sequoia recalls Le picoreur brand Cuisse de poulet fermier bio BLC / organic chicken legs (Lot #25801101; Best by 27, 28 & 30/09/20) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Louis Bechoux Snacks S.A. recalls Louis Bechoux Snacks brand Boulettes rôties / roasted dumplings (12x100g & 12x135g; Lot 080920; Best by 10/10/2020) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): Merricq recalls Merricq Thon Albacore frais / Fresh albacore tuna (Sold between 11 September and 21 September) due to elevated levels of histamine.

Food Safety Recall (Iceland): Aðföng recalls Himneskt brand Lífrænt rautt pestó / Organic red pesto (130g; Best before October 2022; Product of Italy) due to possible foreign matter (broken glass) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Industry recalls Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken (210g; Batch code L:15320; Best before 25.05.2022; product of Poland) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Italy): AZ. AGR. ARMANNI ANGELO recalls AZ. AGR. ARMANNI ANGELO brand formaggio a latte crudo – stracchino / raw milk cheese (Lot #06/06/2020) due to shigatoxin-producting E. coli contamination.

Food Safety Recall (UK): Lidl GB recalls Cologran Stevia sweetener tablets (100 tablets; Batch code L 91424 C; Best before end December 2022) because aspartame is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk to sufferers of phenylketonuria (PKU).

Allergy Alert (Israel): Kredofood Ltd recalls three noodle products due to undeclared dairy protein and/or sesame. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Australia and New Zealand

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Foodstuffs Own Brands recalls all batches and all dates of Pams brand Very Berry Dairy Dessert due to the possibility of the plastic container breaking and plastic pieces entering the product.  Please refer to the recall notice for additional details.
