United States
Outbreak Alert: The CDC is investigating an outbreak of 17 E. coli O157:H7 infections in 13 states: California (3), Connecticut (2), Illinois (1), Indiana (1), Michigan (1), Nebraska (1), New Hampshire (2), New York (1), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (1), Virginia (1), Vermont (1) and Washington (1). Tests are underway to determine whether or not these illnesses are related to a similar outbreak in Canada (see below).
Allergy Alert: New Seasons Market recalls New Seasons Market Macaroni and Cheese (UPC codes 252089, 203999, 252090, 706991; Sell by dates up to Jan 02, 2018) due to undeclared egg. The recalled products were sold in New Seasons Market locations in Oregon, Washington and Northern California.
Allergy Alert: Daisy’s Bakery Inc. (Clifton, NJ) recalls Gourmet Concha (4-oz. pkg; Lot Nos. 441, 442, 443, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448, 449, 450, 451, 452, 453, 454, 455, 456, 457, 458, 459, 460, 461, 462, 463, 464, 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470 and 471) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were sold New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois and North Carolina in retail stores through direct delivery.
Food Safety Recall: T. Marzetti Company recalls various Frozen Biscuit Dough products (All Best by dates) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Food Safety Recall: Swift Beef Company recalls approximately 4,702 pounds of beef stew product that may be contaminated with plastic and metal. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to HEB retail stores in Texas.
Food Safety Recall: Osamu Corporation recalls Tuna Fillet Saku (All lots and pack sizes; Product of Indonesia) due to elevated mercury levels. The recalled product was distributed to Defense Commissary Agency stores.
Canada
Outbreak Alert (Update): PHAC reports 41 cases of E. coli O157:H7 in Ontario (8), Quebec (14), New Brunswick (5), Nova Scotia (1), and Newfoundland and Labrador (13). The outbreak appears to be associated with consumption of Romaine lettuce; however, no specific brand or source of lettuce has yet been identified. Seventeen of the outbreak victims required hospitalization, and one person has died. Victims range in age between 3 and 85 years; 73% are female. The outbreak may also be linked to cases of E. coli O157:H7 illness under investigation in the USA (see above).

Food Safety Recall (Czech Republic): CEDES LOGISTIK s.r.o. recalls AMILK infant nutrition formula (2 x 300g; Batch & Expiry date: 0000053236 (DMT: 27.02.2019), 0000073337 (DMT: 03.10.2019), 0000053059 (DMT: 15.02.2019), 0000055012 (DMT: : 06.04.2019), 0000067902 (DMT: 07.08.2019); Product of France) due to suspected Salmonella contamination.
Food Safety Recall (Germany): Könecke Fleischwarenfabrikation GmbH recalls heated, ready-to-eat chicken breast fillets, mini chicken steak, chicken wings and chicken snacks due to possible Listeria contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products.
Food Safety Recall (Luxembourg): Könecke Fleischwarenfabrikation GmbH recalls Gutfried Mini Hahnchensteak (160 gr; Best before 6/1/2018; Product of Germany) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold in Supermarchés Cactus outlets.
