United States

Allergy Alert: Procesadora La Hacienda, Inc. (Juncos, PR) recalls Seasoned Meat raw meat chubs (2 pieces of 5 lb. per box; packed June 10, 2016 and Feb 7, 2017; Est. No. 21217A), due to undeclared wheat and whey.

Allergy Alert: Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. recalls Deli Thin Dietz & Watson Mortadella (3-oz plastic pkgs; Lot #LO23633800; Best by April 2, 2017) due to undeclared pistachio nuts.

Allergy Alert: Northern Food I/E Inc. (Westbury, NY) recalls RA’s Farm dried apricots (12-oz packages; UPC 754351-144424) due to undeclared sulfites.

Allergy Alert: Peekay International Inc (Maspeth, NY) recalls “Pashupati brand Furundana” food treats (13-oz clear plastic pkg; Batch #APR 2016; Expiration date Apr 09, 2018) due to undeclared peanuts.

Allergy Alert: Whole Foods Market recalls Our Chef’s Own Spinach Orzo Salad (PLU 61159; Sold on date February 24 or before) due to undeclared pine nuts. The recalled salads were sold in Whole Foods Market stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island.

Allergy Alert: Meijer recalls pre-made Caesar salad kits (Sell by March 3, 2017), because the salads were mislabeled as Greek Salads. The mislabeled salads contain packaged croutons, which is an undeclared wheat allergen not included on the Greek salad kit label.

Allergy Alert: Whole Foods Market stores in Arlington, MA and Brookline, MA are issuing an allergy alert to recall Lonestar Bakeries Cream Cheese King Cakes sold between February 4 and February 26, due to an in-store labeling error.

Food Safety Recall: Wayne Farms, LLC (Decatur, AL) recalls Waffle Breaded Bites: Fully Cooked Breaded White Meat Chicken Bites (5-lb clear plastic bags, 2/case; Est. No. P-20214; packaged Dec. 1, 13 and 30, 2016) due to a potential processing defect, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products. The recalled products were shipped to Food Lion stores in Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Food Safety Recall: Gourmet Classic Salads, Inc. (Lake Wall, FL) recalls ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. ready-to-eat salad, wrap and snack items were produced and packaged from Jan. 30, 2017 through Feb. 24, 2017. Food Safety Recall: Yoke’s Fresh Market recalls Colby Jk Longhorn Cheese and Colby Longhorn Cheese (16 oz; sold between 09/01/16 and 01/27/17 in Yoke’s Fresh Market stores in Washington and Idaho under the Yoke’s Fresh Market private label) due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Food Safety Recall: Manzana Products Co., Inc. recalls Trader Joe’s All Natural Unsweetened Apple Sauce (all codes through DEC 16, 2018), Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (All codes through OCT 06, 2018) and Trader Joe’s First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce (all codes through AUG 08, 2018) because the company received consumer reports of glass found in some of the products.

Food Safety Recall: Lipari Foods, LLC recalls various Copperwood and Lipari Old Tyme brands of bulk and retail cheeses due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: ALDI Inc., in cooperation with Versa Marketing, recalls Fusia Szechuan Stir Fry (21-oz bag; Best by 06/14/18) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Alert: The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) has ordered Meadow Gold Dairies to stop its distribution and sale of two-percent reduced fat milk. DOH issued a Cease and Desist Order to the company today after laboratory results from routine milk samples exceeded standard limits for Coliform bacteria. Samples of two-percent reduced fat milk taken from Meadow Gold Dairies on Jan. 19, Feb. 6 and Feb. 22, 2017 revealed coliform counds in excess of 150/ml, 130/ml and in excess of 150/ml, respectively. The maximum allowed limit for coliforms in pasteurized milk is 10/ml.

Canada

E. coli Outbreak Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada has received reports of four additional cases of E. coli O121 illnesses. The outbreak, the source of which has not been identified, now comprises 20 confirmed cases of E. coli O121 with a matching genetic fingerprint, reported in British Columbia (8), Saskatchewan (4), Alberta (3) and Newfoundland and Labrador (5). Illness onset dates range from November 2016 to January 2017. The investigation is ongoing.

Allergy Alert: Alimentation Du-Mag inc. (Sacré-Coeur, QC) recalls Strudel, due to undeclared milk, egg and soy protein.

Allergy Alert: Bella Biscotti recalls various biscotti products due to undeclared egg and milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Ontario.

Allergy Alert (Update): Amira Enterprises Inc. updates its recall of Ziyad brand Soup Starter Soup Base – Jameed issued on February 24, 2017 to include additional distribution information. Please refer to the recall notice for additional details.

Food Safety Recall: Transilvania Trading recalls Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (All Best Before dates up through OCT 06, 2018) and Trader Joe’s First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce (All Best Before dates through AUG 08, 2018) due to the potential presence of pieces of glass. The recalled items were sold at Pirate Joe’s, located at 3744 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Europe

Food Safety Recall (UK): Quorn Foods Ltd. recalls frozen Quorn Meat Free Mince (300g pkg; Best before 31 August 2018; Batch code 136331) because the product may contain small pieces of metal.

Pet Food Recall (UK): Pets at Home recalls four lines of AVA Dry Cat Food products because they contain lower levels of thiamine (vitamin B1) than specified in the recipe. Please refer to the recall notice for details.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

Food Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Hong Kong Department of Health  urges the public not to buy or consume a product called Eromate Coffee as it was found to contain an undeclared Part 1 poison

Australia and New Zealand

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Cottage Cheese Farm Pty Ltd. recalls Cottage Cheese Farm Ricotta (425g and 3kg plastic tubs; Use by 2 Mar 2017, 4 Mar 2017 and 5 Mar 2017 (425g), 7 Mar 2017 and 9 March (3kg); Product of Australia) due to E. coli contamination. The recalled products were distributed at Cottage Cheese farm store, delicatessens, small independent retailers, cafés and caterers in VIC.
