OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC reports an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis, probably due to Norovirus, among rafters and backpackers in the backcountry of Grand Canyon National Park. During April-June 2022, at least 222 individuals became infected.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (UK): Public health officials in the UK are investigating an outbreak of E. coli O157 infections that has sickened 192 people in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in the last month. The source of the infections has not yet been determined.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA releases its regular weekly update of foodborne disease investigations in progress.

Allergy Alert: World Variety Produce Inc. recalls Melissa’s Brand Dutch Red Potatoes with Dijon Mustard Sauce (1LB 1.7OZ (502g); UPC 0-45255-15221-0; Use by 08/15/22, 08/20/22, 08/22/22, 08/29/22, 09/02/22, 09/05/22, 09/11/22, 09/18/22, 09/26/22, 10/01/22, 10/09/22) due to undeclared egg.

Infant Formula Safety Recall: Mother’s Touch recalls Mother’s Touch Baby Formula because the product did not conform to the FDA’s infant formula standards. The product is sold at local markets in Kinzers, Loganton, and Gap, PA and was available for purchase directly from Mother’s Touch website. A recall notice will be posted at: Scenic Ridge Foods in Loganton, PA, Hillside Bulk Foods in Gap, PA, and Creekside Foods in Kinzers, PA. The FDA recommends that consumers who have purchased this product discontinue use and throw it away.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports 310 cases of Cyclospora illnesses of unknown origin in Alberta (1), British Columbia (3), Newfoundland and Labrador (3), Ontario (252) and Québec (51). Thirteen people have been hospitalized. The illnesses are not related to travel.
