United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 419 confirmed cases of Salmonella Oranienburg infections in 35 states, with 60 people hospitalized. The investigation has not yet identified a food linked to illness.

Enforcement Action: Acting on behalf of the FDA, the U.S. Marshals Service conducted a mass seizure of FDA-regulated spices and food additive products held for sale under insanitary conditions. The seizure was conducted at the premises of the Lyden Spice Corporation in Miami, Florida. The food products seized at the property include more than 25,000 boxes/bags of bulk ready-to-eat spices and food additives, such as monosodium glutamate, crushed red chili and sesame seeds. According to the FDA, the food products were exposed to widespread rodent infestation as well as other pests, such as live and dead insects. 

Pet Food Safety Recall: FROMM FAMILY FOODS recalls multiple varieties of Fromm Shredded can Entrée dog food (12-oz cans; Best by date 082024) due to excessive Vitamin D. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products. Affected recalled products were distributed at neighborhood pet stores nationwide.

Food Safety Recall:  Déli 365 Express recalls GRAVELAX and GRAVELAX JALAPENO (8 oz pkgs; Sold up to 30 September 2021) because the items were prepared and packaged under conditions that do not ensure safety.

Food Safety Recall: Fromagerie Carpati inc. recalls Fromage frais de type cottage / Fresh cottage cheese (Sold 23-27 September 2021) because the items were prepared and packaged under conditions that do not ensure safety.

Food Safety Recall: Marché Pêche Pêche recalls SAUMON FUMÉ / Smoked salmon (Sold up to 30 September 2021) because the item was packaged under conditions that do not ensure safety.

Allergy Alert (France): UN AIR D’ICI recalls JUSTE BIO brand Pignons de pin bio / Organic pine nuts (80-g bag; 210300459; Best before 31/12/2021) due to undeclared pistachios.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Dunnes Stores Luxury Apple Pie (750g; Use by 04/10/2021) contains undeclared almonds.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Aldi recalls Tupelo farm brand Saucisses de poulet – surgelé / Chicken sausages – frozen (1 kg; Lot #211458064; Expiry date 20/01/2023) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Match S.A. recalls Mytilimer brand Moules de Bouchot / Mussels (1.4 kg; Lot #9152709271; Expiry date 07/10/2021) due to E. coli contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Delitraiteur recalls Delitraiteur brand  Cordon bleu de volaille / Poultry cordon bleu (500g; Lot #606430; Expiry date 08/10/2021) because the item contains pieces of raw poultry and the preparation instructions on the package are inadequate to ensure safety for consumption.

OUTBREAK ALERT & FOOD SAFETY RECALL (Singapore): Mdm Ling Bakery Pte Ltd recalls Mao Shan Wang Durian Snowskin Mooncake (8 pieces/560g; All dates; Product of Malaysia) after the imported product was associated with five separate gastroenteritis incidents affecting a total of 23 persons. One person was hospitalized.

Allergy Alert (Australia): VHT Perth Pty Ltd recalls Dao Xiang Cun Peanut Crisp Cookie (145g; Best Before 05-05-20220) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Devondale Apple Juice Co Pty recalls Devondale 100% Sparkling Apple Juice (750 ml; Best Before 17/06/23, 02/08/2023, 03/08/2023, 26/08/2023​) due to a packaging fault that could result in glass breakage.
