United States

Allergy Alert: Ralphs advises customers who may be allergic to almonds to avoid consuming SKINNYGIRL, MILK CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES WITH SEA SALT (3.6 oz; Best by 06/2018; UPC 851342-00658) as the product may contain undeclared almonds. The SkinnyGirl Milk Chocolate Truffles with Sea Salt were sold in all Ralphs stores.

Allergy Alert: Elevation Brands/Ian’s Natural Foods recalls Ian’s Italian Panko Breadcrumbs (9 oz; Use by 28 DEC 17, 29 DEC 17 and 22 MAR 18; UPC 4951277220) due to possible traces of undeclared dairy (milk protein). The recalled product was sold at Publix supermarkets.

Food Safety Recall: Publix Super Markets recalls Publix Tropical Medley Mix (5.7oz clear plastic containers; all use-by dates; UPC 41415088586) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold from Publix retail produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Canada

Outbreak Alert: Public Health Agency of Canada has received confirmed reports of seven cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to consumption of frozen, raw breaded chicken products. Illnesses were reported in British Columbia (1), Alberta (4), Ontario (1) and New Brunswick (1), beginning the week of April 9th. Two people have been hospitalized. A specific product or group of products has not yet been identified as the source of this outbreak.

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recall: The Québec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Montréal Division of Food Inspection have received reports of several cases of Norovirus infections linked to Gelsius IQF Whole Raspberries supplied by Distribution Farinex (113712 Canada Inc.) to hotels, restaurants and institutional customers in Québec and Ontario. The recalled raspberries were distributed to retailers across Québec. Please refer to the MAPAQ Food Safety Alert for a detailed distribution list.

Europe

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Gabriel s.c. recalls Assiette nordique brand Smoked Fish (150g; Lot #17 EWYC; Expiration dates 06/07/2017, 08/07/2017, 12/07/2017, 14/07/2017, 15/07/2017 and 16/07/2017) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold in Cora, Spar, Spar concept, Eurospar, ABC, and Alvo stores.

Food Safety Recall (UK): Sainsbury’s recalls several of its Deli Fillers products due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Nine Whole Foods Market stores in Northern California recall some decorated (iced) cookies from the self-service cookie displays due to undeclared egg and (in one instance) undeclared wheat. Please refer to the recall notice for full details.

Allergy Alert: Hatimy Market (Buffalo, NY) recalls Minar brand “Golden Raisins” blend (200g plastic bag; Product of South Africa; Product code 776476781053) due to undeclared sulfites.

Food Safety Recall: La Granja INC recalls Hand crafted Paleteria, Mango Flavored Ice cream (Expiration dates 210218 (February 21, 2018) and 280218 (February 28, 2018) UPC 0010439212) due to potential contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis. The recalled product was distributed in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina through retail stores and by direct delivery.

Food Safety Recall: Kemps recalls Kemps Yo2 Frozen Yogurt, various flavors (16 oz) due to potential plastic from packaging in the product. Please refer to the recall notice for details.

Food Safety Alert: New York State Agriculture Commissioner warns consumers not to eat salted fish sold by 5th Ave. Kings Fruit and Vegetable Corporation located at 6824 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. The uneviscerated fish is at risk for contamination with Clostridium botulinum.

Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Organic Herbal Supply, Inc. recalls all lots of Uproar, Cummor, Zrect, Monkey Business, Xrect, Rectalis, Tornado, Zdaily, BigNHard, Enhancerol Natural Male Enhancement capsules following the detection by FDA of tadalafil in the products, and also recalls all lots of Zrect for Women and LabidaMAX after FDA finds that these products contain Flibanserin, an FDA-approved prescription drug for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in women. Canada

Allergy Alert: High Liner Foods Inc. recalls High Liner Captain’s Crew brand Breaded Fish Strips (750g; Product codes 7082U, 7048U, 7006U, 6293U followed by a time stamp) and High Liner Captain’s Crew Breaded Fish Nuggets (750g; 7082U, 7048U, 7006U followed by a time stamp) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert: Détour en France (Lac-Etchemin, QC) recalls NOTRE CASSOULET TOULOUSAIN (740 g) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Flamaglo Foods Ltd. recalls Yoso brand Soygo Fermented Cultured Soy, plain, raspberry, blueberry and vanilla flavors (440g; Product code 17 MA 19 d5) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were sold through retailers in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Ardent Mills expands its earlier recall to include additional flour products that may be contaminated with E. coli O121. Please refer to the consolidated list of recalled products for complete details. Some of the recalled items were sold through Costco Canada.

Allergy Alert (Finland): Pohjolan Peruna Oy recalls Mummon Perunarieskahiutaleita (Production code 091117-1) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Food Safety Authority of Ireland warns that Plamil Expressions No Added Sugar Chocolate with Sweetener Xylitol (100g; Best before 22/9/18; Batch #09:25I.D. 1656 T2) contains undeclared peanut.

Allergy Alert (UK): Fazal’s recalls five confectionery products due to undeclared wheat. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Eko-Land brand Chocolate & Hazelnut Spread (400g; Lot L2 17616*0640; Best by 24/08/2017) has been recalled due to potential for contamination with particles of glass.

Food Safety Recall (Sweden): Skånemejerier recalls Fresh Whipped cream 40% (0.5 L; Production date 2017-04-12; Expiry date 2017-04-21), because the product is contaminated with cleaning solution.

Allergy Alert (Australia): Roberts Confectionery recalls Dark Chocolate Melting Buttons (300g; All best before dates up to and including April 2018) due to undeclared milk.

  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns National Food and Beverage, Inc. (Dallas, TX) that a June 2012 inspection of the company’s facility revealed serious violations of the regulations for acidified foods.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns I. Shay Cosmetics, Inc. (Gardena, CA) that a February 2012 inspection of the company’s pharmaceutical manufacturing facility found significant violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations for Finished Pharmaceuticals.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Young Ocean, Inc. (Kent, WA) that an April-May 2012 inspection of the company’s manufacturing facility found serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Greencore USA, LLC (Byfield, MA) that a June 2012 inspection of the company’s ready-to-eat sandwich manufacturing facility, located in Newburyport, MA, revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in multiple areas of the production environment, including on food contact surfaces where seafood sandwiches were being prepared.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Hohberg Poultry Ranches (Ontario, CA) that  inspections carried out at the company’s shell egg production facilities in Ontario (Chino Avenue & S. Grove Avenue) and Fontana (Santa Ana Avenue) found serious violations of the Prevention of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) in Shell During Production, Storage, and Transportation regulation.

Europe

  • Allergy Alert (UK): Harrods recalls Leonidas Fresh Belgian Chocolates in Gold Paper Wrapped Box and Gold Ribbon (227g, 454g and 680g; Bset before 3 December 2012) and Leonidas Fresh Belgian Chocolates in Halloween Orange Wrapped Box, Black Ribbon and Small Plastic Pumpkin (227g and 454g; Best before 20 December 2012), because the products contain undeclared wheat (gluten), nuts, milk and egg.
  • Food Safety Recall (Germany): Deutsche See GmbH (Bremerhaven) recalls Red Snapper (from the Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka), due to the presence of ciguatera toxin, a naturally occurring marine biotoxin. The company has learned of 6 to 8 illnesses that may be associated with consumption of the recalled Red Snapper.

Australia and New Zealand

  • Food Safety Recall (Australia): Goodman Fielder recalls White Wings Creamies Raspberry Jam and Whipped Cream, White Wings Creamies Whipped Passionfruit Cream, White Wings Creamies Whipped Chocolate Cream, and White Wings Creamies Lemon and Whipped Cream biscuits, because of potential foreign matter (plastic) contamination due to a packaging fault. The recalled biscuits are sold in 200g packages (tan-coloured wrapper), are identified with Best Before dates between 01/11/2012 and 29/06/2013, and were distributed nationally at Woolworths, Coles, Spar, IGA and other independent supermarkets.
