OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports eleven (11) confirmed outbreak cases of E. coli O157:H7 in five states linked to consumption of raw cheddar cheese. Five people have been hospitalized, two suffering from hemolytic uremic syndrome. The manufacturer recalled all sizes of blocks and shredded RAW FARM brand raw cheddar cheese (original and Jalapeno flavors), but withdrew its recall on February 26, 2024.

Allergy Alert: USDA issues Public Health Alert for nurture life KIDS MEALS CHICKEN PARM WITH SUPER VEGGIE SPAGHETTI (5.9 oz; Enjoy by dates from Jan. 9, 2024, to March 1, 2024). due to undeclared egg white. No recall was requested as the product is no longer available for sale.

Allergy Alert: M&P Production LTD recalls approximately 669 pounds of raw lamb and beef samsa products due to undeclared sesame seeds. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The CDC has received reports of 302 lab-confirmed Salmonella cases in 42 US states linked to contaminated cantaloupes imported from Mexico. Four people have died and 129 have been hospitalized.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (France): French authorities report six confirmed cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) due to infection with a shiga toxin-producing E. coli. All six victims attended a nursery/daycare facility in Toulouse. The infections were associated with consumption of Morbier cheese produced by Route des Terroirs.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The FDA is investigating the source of a new outbreak of E. coli O121:H19 illnesses. Thirty-seven outbreak cases have been reported so far, but no food product has yet been linked to the illnesses.

Public Health Alert: The FDA is advising restaurants and food retailers not to sell and to dispose of oysters and consumers not to eat oysters from Fanny Bay Oysters (Product of British Columbia, Canada; Harvested 10/17/2023 from harvest area 14-8 Landfile #278757) due to Vibrio parahaemolyticus contamination. The oysters were shipped to distributors in California and Washington.

Food Safety Recall: Bix Produce Company LLC recalls FreshPoint Bix Produce Company, Cantaloupe (3/bag; Lots P2742702-00 and P2741287) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Norway): Norway’s Public Health Institute continues to investigate an illness outbreak due to a strain of shiga toxin producing E. coli. Twenty-four cases have been confirmed to date, more than half of them in children under the age of thirteen. Nine of the children have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The outbreak strain has been found in hamburger meat.
