  • Food Safety Recall: Buehler’s Fresh Foods alerts customers that Clorox Company has recalled Hidden Valley EZ Squeeze Light Original Ranch (20 oz; UPC 0-71100-00023; Lot code G12355) due to incorrect labeling.
  • Food Recall: Price Chopper recalls Price Chopper Single Cup Coffee 12-pack varieties including Original Donut, Dark Roast and Breakfast blend, due to inadequate filters that  release grounds into finished cups of coffee.

Europe

  • Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Skare Food A/S recalls Salted meat (80g; Packaged 7/1-2012; Best before 4/2-2013) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
  • Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Højer Sausages A/S recalls Teepølse (250g; Packaged 9/1-2013 and 16/1-2013; Best before 18/2-2013 and 25/2-2013) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
  • Food Safety Recall/Alert (UK): The Food Standards Agency announces the recall of Cake Factory Outlet and Clearance Cake Excess brands of cakes, biscuits, sweets, puddings and tarts (All packages sizes and batch codes), because the products were rebranded and relabeled in an establishment served with a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice due to unsatisfactory hygiene conditions.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • Food Safety Recall/Alert (Hong Kong): The Centre for Food Safety urges the public not to consume the following soft cheese products, recalled by the Australian manufacturer (Jindi Cheese Pty Ltd), because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:  Blue Brie Cheese (Manufactured 13/11/2012 & 28/11/2012), Chilled Brie Cheese Cartons (Manufactured 11/10/2012, 15/10/2012, 16/10/2012, 1/11/2012, 5/11/2012, 6/11/2012, 13/11/2012, 25/11/2012 & 28/11/2012), Chilled Camembert Cheese Cartons (Manufactured 11/10/2012, 15/10/2012, 19/10/2012, 1/11/2012, 6/11/2012, 13/11/2012, 23/11/2012 & 25/11/2012), Jindi Brie Cheese (125g; Manufactured 15/10/2012, 1/11/2012 & 25/11/2012), Jindi Camembert Cheese (125g; Manufactured 15/10/2012, 11/11/2012 & 25/11/2012), Jindi Rustic Brie Cheese (125g; Manufactured 24/10/2012 & 15/11/2012), Jindi Traditional Blue Cheese (125g; Manufactured 11/10/2012 & 1/11/2012), and Jindi Triple Cream Cheese (180g; Manufactured 2/11/2012 & 11/11/2012). The recalled cheeses were imported by the PARKnSHOP and Pacific Gourmet chains.

  • Food Safety Recall: LJD Holdings, Inc., dba B and D Foods (Boise, ID) recalls ROYAL “THE TEMPURA KING” ROYAL TEMPURA CHICKEN, Fully Cooked Tempura Chicken Breast (2 x 5-lb bags/box; ID code A-4615; Case code 110622), BLINGS! CHICKEN BREAST WITH PARMESAN FLAVORING (2 x 5-lb bags/box; ID code A-4844; Case code 110622), STEAKHOUSE TEMPURA SEASONED BEEF & BINDER STRIPS (2 x 5-lb bags/box; ID code A-1070-10; Case code 110622), KETTLE COOKED CHICKEN BREAST PIECES (30-lb boxes; ID code A-3900; Case code 110622), and FULLY COOKED PORK STRIPS (30-lb boxes; ID code A3025-30; Case code 110622), due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled fully cooked meat and poultry products were produced on Dec 6, 2012 and distributed to foodservice and institutional customers in several states, as well as to an industrial customer. Canada

  • Allergy Alert: Taiwan Food Products Ltd. recalls Fish Tempura Sticks (365g packages; UPC 7 77576 00410 6; Date codes EXP 2013 09 12 or EXP 2013 09 13), due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was distributed in British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Allergy Alert: Lilydale Inc. recalls all lots of  Lilydale Seasoned Smoked Turkey Breast Peppered and PrimoTaglio Seasoned Peppered Smoked Turkey Breast, due to undeclared mustard. The recalled product was sold on request from retail deli counters in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
  • Allergy Alert: Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. (Edmonton, AB) recalls Kinnikinnick Foods brand Pie Crusts (290g pkgs containing 2 x 8″ pie crusts); UPC 6 20133 00600 9; Best before 2013DE17), due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was sold in Alberta.

  • Allergy Alert: King’s Delight (Gainesville, GA) recalls APPLEGATE® Naturals Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets (8-oz cartons; Est. P-2617; Lot #210864; Best before 08/28/13; UPC 25317-00556), due to undeclared wheat. The recalled products were supplied to retail stores in Indiana, Maryland, Oregon and Washington.

Canada

  • Food Safety Recall: Fromagerie Bergeron Inc. recalls Fromagerie Bergeron Brins de Gouda Firm Unripened Cheese (100g, 180g, 230g, 260g, 300g, 500g & 2.5Kg sizes; Packaged 2013 JA 14; Best before 2013 JA 29; Lot 13-0065), Fromagerie Bergeron Le Populaire Unripened Firm Cheese (335g & 675g sizes; Prepared 2013JA14; Best before 2013AL14; Lot 13-65 or 13-66) and Fromagerie Bergeron Le Populaire Unripened Firm Cheese (2.2 (variable weight) Kg; Preparation date 13JA1465; 13AL14), due to the presence of metal fragments. The recalled products were supplied to retailers in Quebec, including Costco Canada.
  • Outbreak Alert Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports that an additional outbreak case of E. coli O157:H7 has been confirmed in New Brunswick, bringing the total number of cases to thirty, including 7 in New Brunswick, 10 in Nova Scotia and 13 in Ontario. The illnesses are most likely related to the consumption of shredded lettuce from California that was distributed to some KFC and KFC-Taco Bell restaurants by FreshPoint Inc. Thirteen of the 30 outbreak victims have been hospitalized, including one who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome.

  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Department of Health warns the public not to purchase or consume Leisure 18 Slimming Coffee, as it was found to contain the undeclared and banned drug ingredients sibutramine and phenolphthalein.
