Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Update): The Public Health Agency of Canada continues to track an outbreak of E. coli O26:H11 illnesses across Canada. As of January 26, 2026, 29 cases have been confirmed in seven provinces. Seven people have been hospitalized. The outbreak is linked to consumption of Pillsbury Pizza Pops. Please refer to the updated food safety recall, below.

Food Safety Recall Update: General Mills Canada Corporation recalls Multiple varieties of Pillsbury Pizza Pops due to possible E. coli O26 contamination. The initial recall and update were triggered by findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.

Food Safety Recall: Rabiole (Cap-aux-Meules, QC) recalls Tartinade pistache-cajou / Pistachio-cashew tartinade (Sold between 8 July and 19 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Épicerie Pivot (Varennes, QC) recalls Pistaches crues / Raw pistachios (Sold between 24 July and 12 December 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: La Moisson (Sainte-Thérèse, QC) recalls Mélange de noix crues / Mixed raw nuts (Bulk; Sold between 13 August and 1 November 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Magasin Berchicci Inc. recalls three varieties of Piaceri Mediterranei brand Pandoro due to foreign matter contamination (Teflon fragments).

Allergy Alert (UK): Tesco recalls Tesco Special Fried Rice (350g; Use by 02 February 2026) due to undeclared wheat (gluten).

Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Danone recalls Aptamil 1 From Birth First infant milk (800g; Expiry date 31-10+2026) due to presence of cereulide toxin (produced by Bacillus cereus). Individual packs were sold via the Boots.ie website for online sales.

Food Safety Recall (UK): Lidl GB recalls Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper (6 x 25g; Batch code 207 345; Best before 04 April 2026) due to possible foreign matter contamination (pieces of foil).

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Update): PHAC reports 23 confirmed cases of E. coli O26:H11 illnesses in an outbreak that has spread to seven provinces. Five people have been hospitalized. There have been no deaths. Many people who became sick reported eating or handling Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops.

USA: CDC, FDA and partners in several states are investigating an outbreak of 64 confirmed cases of Salmonella Telelkebir in 22 states. Twenty people have been hospitalized. Of the 27 people interviewed, 20 (74%) reported eating raw oysters in the week before becoming ill. CDC and FDA are working to determine the source of the oysters.

Allergy Alert: Gregory’s Foods, Inc.  recalls Bag Full of Cookies White Chocolate Macadamia Nut frozen cookie dough (2-pound 8.5-ounce plastic bag; Best by 12/6/2026) due to undeclared peanuts.

Pet Treat Safety Recall: Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC recalls Country Vet Biscuits – Original Meaty Flavor (4-lb bag; Lot code 40906513; Expiration date 09/06/2026; UPC 899623000463) and Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits (4-lb bag; Lot code 40906513; Expiration date 09/06/2026; UPC 840227340691) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Alberta): Alberta Health Services (AHS) is investigating an outbreak of 18 lab-confirmed cases of Enteroinvasive E. coli (three of which also tested positive for amoebiasis) at the food facility within the Saskatoon Farm in Foothills County located at #20 80181 338 Ave E, Foothills County, AB. AHS has identifed 235 symptomatic individuals connected to the outbreak. Two people have been hospitalized, and one was discharged. The facility’s water system is believed to be the likely source of the outbreak.

IRELAND: A National Outbreak Control Team is investigating an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses linked to ready-to-heat meals recently recalled by Ballymaguire Foods. Nine outbreak cases have been confirmed as of 25 July 2025. One death has been reported and is under investigation.

Allergy Alert: Tropicale Foods recalls certain Helados Mexico and La Michoacana products due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert: Hillside Orchard Farms recalls various flavors of their 23oz Fruit Breads & 7.5 oz Fritters due to undeclared egg.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues Public Health Alert for ham salad products containing Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated breadcrumb products that have been recalled by Newly Weds Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Albertsons, Randalls and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas recall select items containing tuna salad supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
