Food Safety Recall: Mickey Brown, Inc. recalls Mickey Brown’s A Taste of Cajun 3 Beef Burritos (1-lb 2-oz pkgs; EST. 33915; produced on various dates from March 28, 2017 through March 6, 2018), produced without the benefit of federal inspection. The recalled products were shipped to distributors in Louisiana, which then distributed the product for further retail and internet sales.

Food Safety Recall: Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc. recalls National Grocers brand Coconut Smiles Organic (10 oz; All pack dates prior to 18-075; UPC 8034810) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The product was distributed to Natural Grocers stores in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming

Pet Food Safety Recall: Radagast Pet Food, Inc. recalls Rad Cat Raw Diet Free-Range Chicken (8, 16 & 24 oz; Lot 62762; Best by 10/19/18) and Rad Cat Raw Diet Free-Range Turkey Recipe (8, 16 & 24 oz; Lot 62926; Best by 05/03/19) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Goodfood Market Corp. recalls Good Boucher brand Lean Ground Beef (285g & 510g, Lot #18-03-07, Best before 2018-03-21; and 510g, Lot #18-03-05, Best before 2018-03-19) due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The recalled products were supplied to consumers in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and possibly nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: Viandes Lauzon recalls Viandes Lauzon brand Medium Ground Beef N/O (2.5 kg; Product code 18-03-05) and Triple A brand Lean Ground Beef Triple A (8 x 454g; Packed on 18-03-05) due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The recalled products were supplied to consumers in Quebec.

Food Safety Recall: 9369-5989 Québec Inc. recalls Dubé Loiselle Maison brand Ground Beef Lean and Dubé Loiselle Maison brand Ground Beef Medium Lean (2 x 2.5 kg; Production date 07-03-18) due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The recalled products were supplied to hotels, restaurants and institutional customers in Quebec.

Food Safety Recall: Scott Bathgate Ltd. recalls Nutty Club brand nut products due to aflatoxin contamination. Food Safety Recall: Le Lunch Box (Montreal, QC) recalls La Sauce du Boss bolognaise sauce (1 L glass bottles; all product sold up to 19 March 2018) because the product does not carry a warning to keep under refrigeration and, therefore, presents a health hazard.

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC reports 40 illnesses in 27 states linked to consumption of kratom. Fourteen people have been hospitalized. The outbreak strain of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:- was identified by the North Dakota Department of Health in two samples of kratom obtained from an outbreak victim in North Dakota.

Allergy Alert: J Bar B Foods recalls simple truth Chicken Sausage Links SPINACH GRUYERE (12-oz. vacuum-sealed plastic packages; Lot #8034; Case code 90394; Sell by APR 16 2018) due to undeclared milk. The recalled item was shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and Virginia.

Allergy Alert: Sensenig Turkey Farm LLC recalls approximately 1,925 pounds of turkey sausage products due to undeclared wheat and soy. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Food Safety Recall: Interstate Meat Distributors, Inc. recalls approximately 14,806 pounds of ground beef and pork products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Food Safety Recall: Olli Salumeria Americana recalls approximately 3,946 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall and Allergy Alert: The Kansas City Baking Company recalls an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat meat products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection and which contain undeclared wheat, eggs, soy, and milk. Pet Food Safety Recall: Steve’s Real Food recalls Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe (5-lb bags; Lot #E 178; Best by 09/27/18; UPC 6-91730-15303-8) due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed to retail pet food stores in states of CA, CO, CT, IA, KS, FL, MD, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NJ, NV, NY, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, and WA.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Blue Ridge Beef recalls Kitten Grind raw pet food (2-lb chubs; Lot#GA1102, stamped on metal clip at ends of chubs; Manufactured on 11/02/2017) due to potential contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was initiated after the FDA received a complaint of two kitten deaths, including one death which was confirmed to be caused by Salmonella septicemia. The recalled products were shipped to Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Pet Food Safety Recall: The J.M. Smucker Company Inc. has recalled various Gravy Train, Ol’ Roy, Kibbles ‘N Bits and Skippy wet/canned pet food products after the company confirmed the presence of pentobarbital in tallow, an ingredient in all of the recalled products. Food Safety Alert: CFIA warns the public not to consume home-made Organic Mushroom Soup (1L size) sold at Belleville Farmer’s Market because it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Food Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Limited recalls Cooked Shrimp (56/65 Shirmp/lb – Pacific White Shrimp (300g; Product code 2018 OC 20: PM AP; UPC 0 60249 00927 1) due to the potential presence of raw shrimp, which may contain harmful bacteria. Food Safety Recall: Tarini Brothers Meat and Fish Market recalls certain Smoked Rainbow Trout products because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Allergy Alert (Germany): Body Attack Sports Nutrition recalls Soja Isolate Shake, Chocolate flavor (750g; Lot #6016181; Best by 31.05.2018) due to undeclared milk.

United States

Outbreak Alert: FDA is working with CDC to identify the source of an outbreak of 24 E. coli O157:H7 illnesses in 15 states. The likely source of the outbreak, which is closely linked to a similar outbreak in Canada, is thought to be leafy greens (the Canadian outbreak was blamed on Romaine lettuce, although a specific source was never identified. Nine of the US victims have been hospitalized, and one person has died in California as a result of this outbreak.

Allergy Alert: Rico Brand recalls Tofu Breakfast Burrito (12-oz; Julian dates 2687 and 0028) due to undeclared soy. The recalled product was sold in grocery stores in Cache County, Weber County, Salt Lake County, and Utah County, Utah.

Allergy Alert: Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. recalls Essential Everyday® Coat & Bake Original Chicken coating (6-oz. carton; Best by NOV 15 18 D04; UPC 41303-01572) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was distributed to SUPERVALU distribution centers in New Stanton, PA, Fort Wayne, IN, Urbana, IL, and Anniston, AL.

Allergy Alert: Wells Collection Inc recalls Rely Brand Dried Longya Lily (8 oz.; Item #66066; UPC 8-8468702199-8) due to undeclared sulfites. The recalled product was distributed at retail supermarkets in New York & Texas.

Allergy Alert: Dollar General recalls Clover Valley® Iced Oatmeal Cookies (12-oz pkg.; Lot #L46217 30; Best by August 18, 2018) due to undeclared milk and nuts. The recalled product was sold and distributed exclusively in Dollar General retail stores located in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI and WV.

Food Safety Alert (Ohio): Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) issues a public health alert for an undetermined amount of protein ice cream produced by Flexfrost, LLC. Food Safety Recall (Ohio): St. Mary’s Meats recalls Colby Cheese and Snack Sticks and Hot Pepper Cheese and Snack Sticks, which were produced without inspection and also contain undeclared MSG. Please refer to the recall notice for additional details.

Canada

Outbreak Alert (Update): The E. coli O157:H7 outbreak linked to consumption of contaminated Romaine lettuce appears to be over, according to an update released by the Public Health Agency of Canada. Forty-two cases were reported from five provinces (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador); 17 outbreak victims were hospitalized and one person died.

Allergy Alert: Industry recalls Te Chang Food brand Towfu (Bean Curd) Cake, Barbecue Flavor (115g; All lots; UPC 4 710189 80302 1) due to undeclared peanuts and sesame seeds. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in British Columbia and may have been sold nationally.

Allergy Alert: Korea Food Trading recalls Ottogi brand soup products due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products, which were supplied to retailers in Ontario and Quebec.
