United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC and FDA report ten confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses in a four-state outbreak linked to consumption of Nature’s Basket Power Greens and Simple Truth Organic Power Greens packaged salads. Four people have been hospitalized. The leafy greens used in these products were sourced from Salinas and Imperial Valley, CA, and Yuma, AZ.

Allergy Alert: Kettle River Products recalls KETTLE RIVER Chicken Alfredo Pizza (12-inch, 25-oz. plastic-wrapped; Lots 21343, 21349, 21362, and 22011; USDA Est P-04203) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert: World Health Products, llc recalls GAT Sport Jetfuel Diuretic (90 ct Bottle; Lots 2003609 & 2003610; Expiration date 6/2023 & 5/2023, respectively) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Interstate Meat Dist. Inc. recalls approximately 28,356 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. recalls Dole-branded and private label packaged salads described below processed at its Springfield, OH and Soledad, CA production facilities containing iceberg lettuce due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was issued after harvest equipment used in the harvesting of the raw iceberg lettuce material used in these finished products was tested by Dole and found to contain Listeria monocytogenes. Infant Formula Safety Recall: Moor Herbs recalls Angel Formula (16 fl. oz. plastic bottles; All units in distribution) because FDA testing determined that the product did not meet specific nutrition and labeling requirements for infant formula, even though it is marketed as such.

Food Safety Recall: 1991166 Ontario Inc. recalls Mahruse brand Tahini Sesame Seed Paste (18 kg; Lot 001; Expiration date 24/05/2023; UPC 8 681305 250387) due to Salmonella contamination.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): AFSCA recalls Tastemakers brand Pretzels XXXL 3 smaken / 3-flavour pretzels (150g) due to undeclared sesame. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA continues to investigate the source an outbreak of Salmonella Javiana that has infected 64 people so far. No specific source has been found as yet.

Food Safety Alert: Consumer Reports has found E. coli O157:H7 in a chub of Kroger brand 93% lean ground beef (1-lb chub; Use or freeze by 1/11/2022). The ground beef was supplied to Kroger by Interstate Meats (USDA Est No. 965).

Pet Treat Safety Recall: Aldi in association with Pet Brands Products, LLC, recalls Pure Being Cat Advent Calendar (5.15 oz; All Best if used by dates; UPC 4099100267754) and Pure Being Dog Advent Calendar (5.15 oz; All Best if used by dates; UPC 4099100267747) due to potential choking hazard.

United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC reports an outbreak of thirteen E. coli O157:H7 illnesses in six states has been linked to Simple Truth and Nature’s Basket brands of Organic Power Greens salad mix containing organic spinach, mizuna, kale, and chard. The implicated products, which carry “Best if used by” dates through December 20, 2021, were sold at grocery stores and supermarkets, including Fred Meyer, QFC, and Giant Eagle.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues a public health alert for an undetermined amount of imported meat and poultry products from China. A recall was not requested because FSIS has been unable to identify and contact the importers. The total amount of ineligible product is undetermined because the investigation is ongoing.
