Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): CDC reports that the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to Yu Shang Food ready-to-eat meat and poultry products has grown to 19 cases in 8 states. There has been a second death in this outbreak—both of them infants—and 17 of the 19 victims have been hospitalized. The CDC added a second strain of Listeria monocytogenes to the outbreak after it was identified in product and environmental testing.

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating 69 illnesses in a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157 infections linked to an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend served at catering events, restaurants, and a school.

Allergy Alert: Borsari Food Co recalls Borsari Bloody Mary Mix (32 oz.; UPC 815893000101) due to undeclared fish (anchovy) and soy.

Food Safety Recall: Riverside Natural Foods Inc. recalls certain batches of MadeGood granola bars due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of metal). Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Tipp Distributors, Inc. dba Novamex recalls Jarritos Coconut Water (17.5 fl oz cans; All lot codes) because the hermetic seal on the lid of the cans may be compromised

Food Safety Recall: Palm Bites Canada recalls Oasis Treasures brand Pistachio Dubai Chocolate (340g; Batch code 25JL25; UPC 8 02962 40190 7) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

USA: FDA has initiated traceback investigation for a new 67-case outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 linked to a not yet identified product.

United States

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues public health alert for yummy Dino Buddies Holiday NUGGETS Breaded nugget shaped white meat chicken patties (5-lb cardboard boxes; Lot 241556; 11/06/26) because the products did not receive the benefit of import reinspection.

Food Safety Recall: Raw Farm LLC recalls all Raw Farm raw whole milk and cream products (Lots 20241109 through 20241127; Produced between November 9 and November 27) due to possible bird flu contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Walmart Inc. recalls Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices, produced in select stores due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected stores.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Blue Ridge Beef recalls Puppy Mix (2 lb log; Lots 08/06/N25 & 08/16/N25; UPC 854298001696) due to Salmonella contamination.

Consumer Advisory: Baloian Farms of Arizona Co., Inc. is recalling all sizes of whole fresh American cucumbers packaged in a “Pamela” brand bulk cardboard container, a box with a sticker that provides the implicated grower’s name, “Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.,” or a clear “PamPak” brand bag of 6 cucumbers with the UPC 8 25401 07010 6.

Food Safety Recall: FreshPoint Vancouver Ltd., Thomas Fresh Inc. recall Pamela brand cucumbers (sold loose or in bulk, with or without a brand name; Produce of Mexico; Sold from October 12, 2024 to November 29, 2024 inclusively) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

Europe (Austria, Denmark, Germany): Health authorities report that an outbreak of about 200 cases of Salmonella enterica serotype Umbilo (S. Umbilo) that affected several European countries mainly between July and September 2024 was traced to rocket salad and baby spinach from Italy.

Sweden (Update): The Public Health Authority reports that an outbreak of 92 cases of Salmonella Typhimurium (sequence type 36) infections may be linked to contaminated alfalfa sprouts.

USA (Update): CDC reports that the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak traced to deli meats produced by Boars Head is now over. The outbreak killed ten individuals and sent 60 to hospital. In all, 61 confirmed outbreak cases were reported from 19 states.

USA (Minnesota): The Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Agriculture report that raw ground beef products supplied to restaurants by Wolverine Packing Co. (Detroit, MI) are behind an outbreak of 15 cases of E. coli O157:H7 infections in the state.

Food Safety Recall Update: Grimmway Farms recalls four additional bag sizes of organic whole carrots to its earlier recall of organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots due to potential E. coli O121:H19 contamination. Food Safety Recall: F&S Fresh Foods recalls Whole Foods Market Organic Carrot Sticks and Whole Foods Market Organic Carrots & Celery (15 oz; Codes “GH” followed by three digits ranging from 236 – 284; Best if used by dates from 9/1/24 to 10/19/24) due to potential E. coli O121:H19 contamination.

Food Safety Recall Update: Yu Shang Food, Inc. recalls approximately 72,240 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for an updated list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Wolverine Packing Co. recalls approximately 167,277 pounds of ground beef products due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues Public Health Alert for INCA GRASA COMESTIBLE DE SEBO BOVINO / Beef tallow product (1 kg or 500g; All dates) because the product was illegally imported from Mexico and is ineligible for entry into the United States.

Food Safety Recall (UK): Morrisons recalls Morrisons Crushed Garlic (75g; Best before 19 October 2025) because an ingredient has been omitted from the product that prevents microbiological growth and therefore presents a potential risk to consumers.
