United States

Outbreak Alert Update: CDC has update its advice against consuming Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal to include all package sizes and date codes.

Outbreak Alert: CDC is investigating an outbreak of Cyclosporiasis linked to consumption of vegetable trays produced by Del Monte Fresh Produce and distributed in Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, FoodMax Supermarket, and Peapod stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Allergy Alert: Golden Star Wholesale recalls AL Reef  Dried Apricots Sour (12 oz; uncoded) due to undeclared sulfites. The recalled product was sold via retail stores in MI, NY,MN,KY,WI,FL,NC,VA,OR,MA,OH,TX,MO between November 2017 and May 2018.

Food Safety Recall: NOW Health Group, Inc. recalls NOW Real Food® Zesty Sprouting Mix (16 oz.; Lot #3031259 and 3038165; Best by dates 12/20 and 01/21, respectively; UPC 733739072719) due to possible Salmonella contamination. According to the manufacturer’s recall notice, “Evidence of potential contamination was implicated in ongoing FDA and CDC investigations into multistate outbreaks of Salmonella infections, of which the clover seed supplier was notified.” The recalled product was distributed online and in retail stores across the USA since December 2017, and also was exported to Canada.

Food Safety Recall: Texas Natural Meats recalls Green Field Farms Rogers Texas Ground Beef (1-lb bags; Expiry 08.08.2020) due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O103. The recalled product was sold at a farmers’ market in Roger, Texas.

Canada

Outbreak Alert Update: PHAC reports the number of Salmonella cases linked to frozen, raw breaked chicken has expanded to include 68 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis illness in nine jurisdictions: British Columbia (8), Alberta (9), Manitoba (9), Ontario (15), Quebec (23), New Brunswick (1), Nova Scotia (1), Newfoundland and Labrador (1), and the Northwest Territories (1).

Allergy Alert: Kehar Foods International Ltd. recalls KFI Premium Quality Foods Curry Powder (100g; Expiry Dec 2018; UPC 8 20103 22525 0) due to undeclared mustard. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in British Columbia.

Food Safety Recall: La Libellule resto convivial recalls Meat Sauce and Vegetarian Chili (all product sold up to June 20) because the items may not be safe for human consumption.

Europe

Outbreak Alert (Sweden): Swedish authorities are investigating two Salmonella outbreaks affecting more than 40 people, according to news reports. The source of the outbreaks is undetermined.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Bauer S.p.a. recalls Brodo Granulare Istantaneo Funghi / Instant Mushroom Broth Powder (Lot #L0008440; Expiry 03/21) due to undeclared walnuts.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Mondelez Italia Biscuits Production S.p.A. recalls Cipster brand Sfogliatine di patate fritte / Fried potato flakes (85g; Best before 31/10/2018, 30/11/2018, 31/12/2019, 31/01/2019) due to undeclared gluten.

Allergy Alert (UK): Mondelez International recalls Ritz Chipster (85g; Best before 31 December 2018) due to undeclared wheat.

Outbreak Alert / Food Safety Recall: Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. recalls limited quantity of 6 oz., 12 oz. and 28 oz. vegetable trays containing fresh broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks, carrots, and dill dip after the products were linked to an outbreak of Cyclosporiasis in Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of recalled products, which were sold to select retailers in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. CDC reports a total of 78 confirmed cases, including four victims who required hospitalization. The recalled products were distributed to: Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, Food Max Supermarket and Peapod in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and bear “Best If Enjoyed By” dates of June 17, 2018 or earlier.

The recalled products have been linked to an outbreak of 73 Salmonella Mbandaka illnesses in 31 states, according to CDC. The recalled products were distributed nationwide in the USA. The 15.3-oz packages also were distributed in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, the Caribbean, Guam, Tahiti and Saipan.

Allergy Alert: World Variety Produce, Inc. recalls Melissa’s Spicy Edamame (7-oz cardboard sleeve; Best by 5/29/18 through 07/02/18; UPC 0-45255-14637-0) due to the undeclared shellfish/crustacean allergen “Oyster Extract.” The recalled product was distributed through retailers in Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Food Safety Recall: Stap Dairy Inc. (Pine Bush, NY) recalls Pasteurized Creamline Chocolate Milk (half-gallon plastic container; Container code  6 18 8) due to improper pasteurization. The recalled product was sold at the Stap Dairy Farm Store in Orange County, NY.

Food Safety Recall: St. John Creamery (Monroe, WA) recalls whole retail raw goat milk (1-pt. and 0.5-gal containers; Best By dates of 061718 (6/17) through 062118 (6/21)) due to possible contamination with toxin-producing E. coli. The recalled product was sold at the on-farm store, directly to private customers via drop groups, and at retail stores in Western Washington.

Food Safety Recall Update: Venda Ravioli, Inc. recalls approximately 738 pounds of frozen meat ravioli products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection while the establishment was under suspension. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Rhode Island.

Food Safety Recall: HF Food Distributors recalls JAMON COCIDO REBANADO (1-lb plastic-wrapped pkgs; Sell by May 25, 00) because it was produced without the benefit of federal inspection. The recalled product was shipped wholesale to Head Start centers in Puerto Rico.

Food Recall: Winter Sausage Manufacturing Co. recalls approximately 28,346 pounds of poultry, pork, and beef products due to misbranding. The poultry products were slaughtered under religious exemption, which is not declared on the product label. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations and distributors in Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Allergy Alert: Marché Blainville (Sainte-Thérèse, QC) recalls various prepared foods due to undeclared mustard seed, sulfite, soy, fish, wheat and barley. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Mrakovic Meat & Deli recalls The Original Mrakovic Burger (1.1 kg/5 burgers; All codes where egg, rye, sesame, soy, and wheat are not declared on the label; UPC 8 14945 00005 2) due to undeclared egg, rye, sesame, soy, and wheat. The recalled product was sold to consumers in Ontario.

Food Safety Recall: Puresource Inc. recalls Now Real Food brand Zesty Sprouting Mix (454g; Lot 3031259 and 3038165; UPC 7 33739 07271 9; Product of USA) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was supplied to consumers nationwide. According to the recall notice, the action was triggered by a recall “in another country.”

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Colruyt recalls Boni Selection Summer Salad with carrots and celery (350g; Best by 6/7/2018) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): Namur recalls Pistachio ice cream (450 mL; All date codes) due to undeclared egg.

Food Safety Recall: Mountain Fresh Dairy, LLC recalls Mountain FRESH KOSHER DAIRY CHOLOV YISROEL 1% Lowfat Milk (half-gallon plastic containers; Use by JUL 07 2017) due to improper pasteurization. The recalled milk was sold at three Non Profit Grocery Stores in New Jersey (NPGS) and was also distributed by the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) in Broome County, New York

Food Safety Recall: Vinh Hoan USA, Inc. recalls approximately 84,000 pounds of imported frozen Swai fillet products that were distributed into U.S. commerce without meeting federal requirements. Outbreak Alert: Public Health Agency of Canada alerts the public to an outbreak of 20 cases of Cyclospora in British Columbia (5) and Ontario (15). The source of the outbreak has not yet been identified.

Food Safety Recall/Outbreak Alert (Updates): MAPAQ and the City of Montreal urge consumers to avoid products containing IQF whole raspberries due to Norovirus contamination. Please refer to the June 28, 2017 and June 29, 2017 advisories for lists of affected products. A number of illnesses linked to the raspberries have been reported to MAPAQ.

Food Safety Recall (France): La société VF recalls Les Economiques brand 20% ground meat (800g; Lot 7171C02; Expiry date 27 June 2017) and unbranded 20% ground steak (2 x 100g; Lot 7171S02; Expiry date 27 June 2017) due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The recalled products were sold in AUCHAN supermarkets during the period between 21/06/2017 and 26/06/2017.

Allergy Alert (New Zealand): Manuka Melts New Zealand Ltd recalls Manuka Melts brand New Zealand Manuka Honey Melts Original Flavour (48g carton; Batch #28018; Best Before 29/04/2019) due to undeclared propolis. The recalled product was sold in retail outlets throughout the South Island and Wellington.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Westie Food Group Ltd recalls Westie Food Group brand Café Style Beef Lasagna (300g plastic bags; Affected dates up to and including Chilled Use By 14/7/2017, Frozen Best Before 28/06/2018) because the product may contain plastic pieces. The recalled product was sold in Countdown Supermarkets throughout New Zealand.
