Food Safety Recall: Leclerc Foods recalls Fit & Active Chocolatey Chip Protein Meal Bars (9.5 oz. boxes containing 6 bars per box; Best by  May 24, 2018; UPC 41498-18695) after a small piece of yellow plastic was discovered by a consumer. The recalled product was distributed in ALDI stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Canada

Food Safety Recall (Update): International House of Caviar Ltd. recalls AKI brand Chum Salmon Caviar (50g; Product code 2018/06/30; UPC 6 28451 22603 1) due to potential presence of Clostridium botulinum. The recalled product was distributed to the consumer level in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, and may have been distributed nationally.

Food Safety Recall: Imperial Caviar & Seafood recalls Imperial Caviar & Seafood and VIP Caviar Club brand Trout Roe due to potential presence of Clostridium botulinum. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Quebec.

Food Safety Recall: 9311-5947 Québec Inc. recalls Lebon brand Chicken Noodle Soup (425 mL; Product code 2017/11/04 17610621 1013-1; UPC 6 29016 10131 2) due to swelling cans. The recalled product was sold by retailers in Quebec.

Haig’s Delicacies recalls Taboule Salad (10-oz plastic tub, 3-unit multi pack & 6-lb bulk foodservice bag; Lot #17298; Expiry date 11/16/17) due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7. The recalled product was distributed in California through retail stores.

Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods LLC recalls Nature’s Touch Frozen Organic Fine Whole Green Beans (10 oz.; Best before 2017 JUN 04 to 2019 JUN 21; UPC 8 73668 00141) due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled product was distributed through three retailers in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.

Sukhi’s Gourmet Indian Foods recalls Sukhi’s CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA with NAAN BREAD & BASMATI RICE (11-oz. frozen microwaveable sealed containers; Use by 11/07/2018; Lot #83790) due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled items were shipped to a distributor in California.

Trader Joe’s recalls Trader Joe’s Broccoli Slaw and Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat (Use by 10/10 through 10/13; SKU #50286) due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled product was sold in Trader Joe’s retail stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah.

Food Safety Recall: Relish Foods, Inc. recalls Frozen Newport Brand Tuna Loins (production codes MTNT 0947C, MTNT 0957B, MTNT 0967A, and MTNT 0977D) due to Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed in Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Nevada, Idaho, and Arizona states between 8/15/2017 and 9/25/2017, through food service operations, retail stores, and restaurants. Food Safety Recall: Cooperstown Cheese Company LLC recalls “TOMA CELENA” Raw Milk Alpine Table Cheese (Plant number 36-8524; Code of 51017) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was sold at locations in Delhi; Hudson; Ithaca; Menands; Oneonta; Ontario; Peekskill; Phoenicia; Roxbury; and Tannersville.

Food Safety Recall: Newswanger Meats (Shiloh, OH) recalls approximately 450,000 pounds of fresh and frozen beef, pork, lamb, chicken, venison, rabbit, various dried meat snacks, and deli products (Est. #151; produced November 7, 2016-October 4, 2017) that were possibly produced under insanitary conditions. Allergy Alert: Hen Long Oriental Gifts and Foods Co. Ltd. recalls Captain’s Choice brand Frozen Shrimp Shaomai (500g; all codes; UPC 8 934791 920259) due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was distributed to consumers in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

Allergy Alert: Euromarché Latina recalls Basil Pesto (variable weight; all lots sold up to October 17, 2017) due to undeclared sesame seeds, mustard seeds, wheat, gluten, soy, egg, peanuts, seafood, shellfish and fish.

Outbreak Alert (Update): Public Health Agency of Canada reports 18 confirmed cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to frozen raw breaded chicken products. Cases have been reported in six provinces: British Columbia (1), Alberta (1), Ontario (10), Quebec (2), New Brunswick (2), and Nova Scotia (2). Individuals became sick between June and September of this year. The average age of cases is 41 years, with ages ranging between 0 to 85 years. The majority of cases (67%) are female.
