United States

Public Health Alert: USDA issues public health alert because Pigeon Caterers, Inc., doing business as Carnival Brands, a New Orleans, La. establishment, produced and distributed approximately 140 pounds of a chicken and pork product without the benefit of federal inspection. Please refer to the USDA notice for additional details.

Allergy Alert: Bulletproof 360, Inc. recalls Bulletproof Collagen Protein dietary supplement (16 oz; Lot #1017088; Expiry March 2019; UPC 8 15709 02115 3) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold directly to distributors in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IN, NH, NY, OR, PA, SC, TX, WA, and WI and product has been further distributed to retail stores nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: National Frozen Foods Corporation recalls a limited quantity of Not-Ready-To Eat Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) green beans and IQF mixed vegetables due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to foodservice accounts in bulk and packaged containers in AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, IL, KS, MI, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA between August 18, 2017 and January 12, 2018.

Food Safety Recall: Rich Products Corporation recalls Member’s Mark Casa DI BERTACCHI ITALIAN STYLE BEEF MEATBALLS (36-lb. cases containing six 6-lb. bags; Best by 17 DEC 2018; Lot #15507351) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was shipped to distributors in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: ARZ Fine Foods and Bulk Food Stop Inc. recall certain Sesame Seeds due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for details on the affected product and its distribution.

Food Safety Recall: HelloFRESH recalls HelloFRESH Sesame Seeds (included in Toasted Brown Rice Bowl) (9g) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

Food Safety Recall: Iqbal Halal Foods recalls IHF brand White Sesame Seeds (200g and 400g; Product codes 2-1217 and 4-1217, respectively) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was sold at Iqbal Halal Foods, 2 Thorncliffe Pk, Dr., Toronto, ON.

Food Safety Recall: North American Impex recalls Naturally Good Hulled Sesame Seeds (50; Lot #1708-01; Prod. date 08/2017) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was supplied to hotels, restaurants and institutional customers in Alberta, New Brunswick, and Ontario.

Food Safety Recall: Hen Long Market Oriental Food Co. Ltd., Thai United Food Trading Ltd., & Three Dolphins Wholesale recall various brands of coconut products due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of recalled products, which were sold by retailers in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, and may have been distributed nationwide.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Boucherie Atlantique Ltée (Montreal, QC) recalls Saumon Fumé Maison / House Smoked Salmon (All best before dates up to and including 6 February 2018) because the production conditions do not ensure microbiological safety.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Marks and Spencer recalls Marks & Spencer 2 Gluten Free Scotch Eggs (227g 2-pack; All date codes up to, and including 29 January 2018) due to undeclared gluten.

Allergy Alert (UK): Boots recalls Delicious Pineapple and Berry Compote (110g; All Use By dates up to and including ​30th January) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (UK): Wikinger UK recalls Wikinger Hot Dogs (720g glass jar; various Lot codes and Best by dates) due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected lot codes.

Allergy Alert (UK): Community Foods recalls Natural Days Ground Rice Flour (500g; Lot 7231 C3 12:16; Best by  Feb 2019) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (UK): Marks & Spencer recalls Marks & Spencer 2 Gluten Free Scotch Eggs (227g 2-pack; All date codes up to, and including 29 January 2018) due to undeclared gluten.

Food Safety Alert (UK): Citing “… systemic and widespread…” problems, the Food Standards Agency has taken action to stop any product from leaving sites operated by Russell Hume because of concerns about non-compliance with food hygiene regulations. The action comes on the heels of an unannounced audit at one site, which led to a broader investigation.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): L&L Plaquette SPRL recalls various L&L Plaquette butters due to Listeria contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Geia Food A/S recalls Nice’n easy – Mushroom mix (400g; Lot #CR1701220134; Best by 5 / 11-2019), because the product was thawed and refrozen during transport.

Food Safety Recall (Sweden): Coop expands its earlier recall of Coop Frozen Corn (450g) to include all production dates after finding Listeria in a second batch of the product.

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC and Texas Health Officials warn the public that anyone who consumed raw milk or raw milk products from K-Bar Dairy (Paradise, Texas) between June 1 and Aug. 7, 2017, should get antibiotic treatment to avoid the risk of lifelong, chronic infections as a result of infection with Brucella RB51. So far, CDC and Texas health officials have received reports about people who drank K-Bar milk or have symptoms consistent with brucellosis caused by RB51 in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Ohio, North Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.

Outbreak Alert: The Rhode Island Department of Health is investigating two cases of Listeria infection linked to consumption of queso fresco made with unpasteurized milk.

Outbreak Alert: CDC reports a 7-state outbreak of Campylobacter illnesses linked to puppies purchased from Petland, a national pet store chain. Thirty-nine confirmed cases have been reported; 9 of the victims required hospitalization.

Allergy Alert: America New York RI Wang Food Group recalls approximately 53,973 pounds of Heat Treated but Not Fully Cooked-Not Shelf Stable pork sausage products due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of recalled products, which were distributed for institutional use and for retail sale in New Jersey and New York.

Allergy Alert: Cherry Valley Marketplace recalls CHERRY VALLEY VANILLA CUPCAKES and CHERRY VALLEY CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES (12 oz pkgs; Expiry 09/20/2017 and 09/30/17) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were distributed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Food Safety Recall: German Sausage Haus, LLC recalls approximately 1,252 pounds of Heat Treated, Not Fully Cooked-Not Shelf Stable (HTNFCNSS) meat products due to a possible processing deviation that may have led to staphylococcal enterotoxin contamination. Allergy Alert: Greenspace Brands recalls Love Child Organics brand Baby’s First Buckwheat + Chia Organic Infant Cereal (227g; Product codes 2017NO16, 2017DE21, 2018JA24, 2018AL09, and 2018SE26: UPC 8 58860 00181 7) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was supplied to retailers nationwide.

Allergy Alert: Fruits & Légumes Mercier inc. recalls Crab Galettes (225g; all lots sold up to and including September 12, 2017) due to undeclared mustard seed, soy, wheat and sulfites.

Allergy Alert (Denmark): Lidl Denmark recalls Soft-baked Triple chocolate cookies (210g; Best by 21/07/2018; Lot no. 1720309-02) due to undeclared gluten, milk, egg and soy and possible trace contamination with nuts and lupins.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Hans Continental Smallgoods Pty Ltd recalls Hans Spanish Chorizo (250g; Use By 1 Dec 2017) due to E. coli contamination. The recalled product was sold at Coles stores in QLD and NSW.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Skazka Delicatessen recalls Leis brand Dillspitzen Getrocknet (dill) (50g; Best before 10.11.2017) due to presence of Salmonella and a high level of Enterobacteriaceae.

Allergy Alert: Northside Noodle Company recalls Ragazzo’s ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALL MIX (1-lb polystyrene foam packages; Lot codes 2008, 2024 and 2044; Produced June 6, 2017, June 27, 2017 and Aug. 2, 2017) due to undeclared soy. The recalled product was shipped to Super One Foods in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Allergy Alert: Wegmans recalls Assorted Muffins 4 Pack (UPC 77890-22744) due to undeclared walnuts.

Food Safety Recall: Garden of Life, LLC recalls Baby Organic Liquid (Expiration date 12/2018; Lot Nos. 5487617, 5487717, 5487817 and 5500817; UPC 58010 12073) because the product, as labeled, includes directions for use that may be misinterpreted. The company is concerned that if not administered precisely following the labeled instructions, the product may present difficulties in swallowing and potentially pose a choking hazard due to the thickness of the liquid.

Food Safety Recall: Country Fresh Orlando, LLC recalls various products (Best if Used by dates between August 12, 2017 through August 20, 2017) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall (Update): The British Columbia Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the Alberta Health Services (AHS) advise consumers that an ongoing investigation into hepatitis A virus in pineapple chunks has identified additional products that may be affected. Allergy Alert (New Zealand): Hellers Ltd recalls Hellers brand Breakfast Angus Beef sausages (10-pack; Use by 22/09/17) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was sold at Pak’nSave, New World and Four Square supermarkets throughout the South Island.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Snack Brands Australia recalls Kettle Sea Salt Kettle Fried Potato Chips (175g and 300g packets; Best before 11NOV17) and Kettle Rosemary and Sea Salt Kettle Fried Potato Chips (175g packets; Best before 11NOV17) due to the presence of white rubber pieces that may cause injury if consumed. The recalled products were sold at Coles (NSW) and Woolworths (NSW and Victoria).

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Wanaka Milk Company Ltd recalls Udderly Fresh Raw Milk brand raw (unpasteurised) drinking milk (various sizes; Batch 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 301, 302, 303; Use by 18 August 2017 – 27 August 2017) due to Campylobacter contamination.
