Allergy Alert: Ciolo Foods recalls Nut-Free Basil Pesto (7-oz; Lot# BV431291; Best by 5/9/18) due to undeclared tree nuts. The recalled product was distributed to stores in Colorado, Utah, and Kansas.

Allergy Alert: Kodiak Cakes recalls Kodiak Cakes Blueberry Chia Energy Waffles (10.72 oz; Sold prior to March 5, 2018) due to undeclared milk.

Consumer Alert/Food Safety Recall: New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball warns consumers not to consume The Maiden’s Creamery “Wild Meadow” raw goat milk cheese (Plant No. 36-1315; Code 101) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Raw Basics, LLC recalls Tucker’s Pork-Bison-Formula (5 lb boxes; Lot code 27717; Best by 04/17/19; UPC 072635520017) due to Salmonella contamination based on test results reported by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. The recalled product was supplied to distributors in Minnesota, Georgia, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.

Allergy Alert (Germany): Zentrale Handelsgesellschaft – ZHG – mbH recalls “Jeden Tag” Cheeseburger (2 x 150g; Best by 09.03.2018) due to undeclared allergens.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lidl Ireland recalls two varieties of Grafschafter Butter Baguettes due to undeclared wheat, rye, milk, mustard, sesame and soya. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete description of recalled products.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Food Safety Authority of Ireland warns consumers that Beautiful Butterfly Red Bean Cake with Nuts (270g; Best before 30/10/2018) contains undeclared casein (a milk protein).

Food Safety Recall (UK): Waitrose recalls Waitrose New York Cheesecake (540g; All best by dates up to and including 6 March 2018) because it may contain strands of plastic.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

Food Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Centre for Food Safety is monitoring the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak in Australia traced to contaminated rockmelons from a New South Wales grower. CFS advises that four local importers had imported the affected rockmelons into Hong Kong between January 1 and February 28 this year.

Food Safety Recall (Singapore): Importers of rockmelons linked to an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes in Australia have recalled the implicated produce.

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recall (South Africa): Tiger Brands recalls Enterprise ready-to-eat meat products after the products were determined to be the source of a massive outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses and deaths throughout South Africa.

Allergy Alert (Australia): Healthy Warrior Pty Ltd recalls Planet Food Organic Hemp Vegan Protein – Rich Chocolate Flavour (500g Best Before 26/02/2020) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Arran Farm recalls Arran Farm brand raw (unpasteurised) drinking milk (Batch numbers 1902, 2002, 2102, 2202. 2302, 2402, 2502, 2602, 2702, 2802, 0203, 0303, 0403, 0503) due to potential for Campylobacter contamination.

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC reports 40 illnesses in 27 states linked to consumption of kratom. Fourteen people have been hospitalized. The outbreak strain of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:- was identified by the North Dakota Department of Health in two samples of kratom obtained from an outbreak victim in North Dakota.

Allergy Alert: J Bar B Foods recalls simple truth Chicken Sausage Links SPINACH GRUYERE (12-oz. vacuum-sealed plastic packages; Lot #8034; Case code 90394; Sell by APR 16 2018) due to undeclared milk. The recalled item was shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and Virginia.

Allergy Alert: Sensenig Turkey Farm LLC recalls approximately 1,925 pounds of turkey sausage products due to undeclared wheat and soy. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Food Safety Recall: Interstate Meat Distributors, Inc. recalls approximately 14,806 pounds of ground beef and pork products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Food Safety Recall: Olli Salumeria Americana recalls approximately 3,946 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall and Allergy Alert: The Kansas City Baking Company recalls an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat meat products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection and which contain undeclared wheat, eggs, soy, and milk. Pet Food Safety Recall: Steve’s Real Food recalls Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe (5-lb bags; Lot #E 178; Best by 09/27/18; UPC 6-91730-15303-8) due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed to retail pet food stores in states of CA, CO, CT, IA, KS, FL, MD, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NJ, NV, NY, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, and WA.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Blue Ridge Beef recalls Kitten Grind raw pet food (2-lb chubs; Lot#GA1102, stamped on metal clip at ends of chubs; Manufactured on 11/02/2017) due to potential contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was initiated after the FDA received a complaint of two kitten deaths, including one death which was confirmed to be caused by Salmonella septicemia. The recalled products were shipped to Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Pet Food Safety Recall: The J.M. Smucker Company Inc. has recalled various Gravy Train, Ol’ Roy, Kibbles ‘N Bits and Skippy wet/canned pet food products after the company confirmed the presence of pentobarbital in tallow, an ingredient in all of the recalled products. Food Safety Alert: CFIA warns the public not to consume home-made Organic Mushroom Soup (1L size) sold at Belleville Farmer’s Market because it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Food Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Limited recalls Cooked Shrimp (56/65 Shirmp/lb – Pacific White Shrimp (300g; Product code 2018 OC 20: PM AP; UPC 0 60249 00927 1) due to the potential presence of raw shrimp, which may contain harmful bacteria. Food Safety Recall: Tarini Brothers Meat and Fish Market recalls certain Smoked Rainbow Trout products because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Allergy Alert (Germany): Body Attack Sports Nutrition recalls Soja Isolate Shake, Chocolate flavor (750g; Lot #6016181; Best by 31.05.2018) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Alert: New York Department of Agriculture warns the public not to consume unpasteurized raw milk from the David Phippen Farm, which does business as Breese Hollow Dairy, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Meijer recalls select Meijer branded Greek and Low-fat yogurt due to the potential risk of small glass particles in the products. Food Safety Recall: Olymel S.E.C./ L.P. (Alberta, Canada) recalls approximately 4,618 pounds of raw intact pork products because the products were imported from Canada and not presented for import re-inspection upon entry into the United States. Food Safety Recall: Guymon Extracts Inc. recalls Pork Soup with Rendered Pork Fat (from bone) fully cooked pork product (2.2 lb. – 10 polybag pillows packed in paper cartons; Lot code 010218-1; Product code 61306; Best before Dec. 22, 2019) due to a processing deviation that may have allowed potential spore-forming pathogen growth including Clostridium botulinum and Clostridium perfringens. The recalled product was shipped to distribution centers and further distributed in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Texas and Washington.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Smokehouse Pet Products, Inc. recalls Smokehouse Beefy Munchies (4 oz pkg; Lot #449294; Best by 10/25/19; UPC 78565857957) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was sold in Washington, Michigan, North Carolina and Colorado through distributors selling to various retailers.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Raws for Paws recalls Ground Turkey Pet Food (1-lb and 5-lb chubs; Case codes 9900008, 9900009, 9900014, and 9900015) after testing by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) revealed the presence of Salmonella in some packages of Turkey Pet Food. The recalled product was distributed throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa directly to consumers and through online mail orders.

Canada

Food Safety Recall (Update): Sawler Gardens Ltd. recalls Sawler Turnip Sticks (340g; Product code 18 FE 11; UPC 6 21063 36600 3) and Compliments brand Baby Cut Turnip Sticks (340g; Product code 18 FE 11; UPC 0 68820 12504 4) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were distributed to retailers in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, and may have been sold nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: K.J. Foods Inc. recalls KJ brand Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice (450g; All units sold up to and including February 7, 2018; UPC 6 28568 61004 4) and KJ brand Sesame Chicken with Rice (450g; All units sold up to and including February 7, 2018; UPC 6 28568 61002 0) due to incorrect cooking instructions. If followed, these instructions may not eliminate harmful bacteria that may be present in the products. The recalled items were supplied to retailers in Ontario.
