OUTBREAK ALERT: CDC alerts consumers to potential exposures to a drug-resistant Brucella strain RB51 (RB51) in 19 states, connected to consuming raw (unpasteurized) milk from Miller’s Biodiversity Farm in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. One case of RB51 infection (brucellosis) has been confirmed in New York.

Allergy Alert: Birdseed Food Co. recalls Craft Granola Goldenola Turmeric & Ginger (11oz and 3oz pkgs; All expiration dates up to and including 061419) due to undeclared cashews.

Allergy Alert: Don Paco Lopez Panaderia Inc. recalls Sweet Bread (16-oz packages; all batches and dates) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were distributed in New York State.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Boucherie-charcuterie Piano & Fils inc. recalls three prepared foods due to undeclared wheat, milk, eggs, soy and sulfites.

Allergy Alert: Fumeur en nord recalls Beef jerky (variable sizes; product sold up to 4 February 2019) due to undeclared barley, soy and fish.

Allergy Alert: Indigo Natural Foods Inc. recalls Indigo Packaged Goodness brand Brewers Yeast Debittered (400g; All units sold from October 24, 2018 up to and including February 7, 2019; UPC 6 99692 00659 1) due to undeclared peanut.

Food Safety Recall: Industry recalls Betty brand and Nancy’s Fancy Yummy-in-the-Tummy brand bakery products from the marketplace due to possible contamination from mice infestation. The bakery products were manufactured by Les Services alimentaires Firouz inc.

Food Safety Recall: Renard bleu inc. recalls Spaghetti sauce (500 mL and 1L jars; All product sold up to and including 6 February 2019), which was prepared and packaged under conditions that threaten food safety.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Riverside Milk recalls Riverside Milk brand raw (unpasteurized) milk, sold from a vending machine (Batches purchased between 28 January and 7 February 2019), due to Campylobacter contamination.

Allergy Alert: Lipari Foods, LLC recalls Weis, All Natural and unbranded specific dark chocolate products packaged by sister company JLM due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to retail stores throughout Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

Allergy Alert: Circle S Farm recalls Herb Bacon Cheese Ball Mix (2.2 oz/62g) due to undeclared soy. The recalled product was available for sale prior to November 15, 2017 at retail locations throughout Ohio as well as phone in orders to Circle S Farm.

Food Safety Alert: The New Jersey Department of Health has issued a ‘Cease-and-Desist’ order to Udder Milk, a home-delivery company that has illegally sold unpasteurized milk in New Jersey. A North Jersey woman tested positive for Brucella RB51 infection after consuming the milk.

Food Safety Recall: Casa Sanchez Foods recalls Real Guacamole (9-oz containers; Lot code 279; Expiration date 11/10/17; UPC 0 78732 00412 2) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was distributed to retail stores throughout the California Bay Area and surrounding counties.

Food Safety Recall: Giant Food, LLC recalls Giant Brand Frozen Whole Kernel Sweet Corn (16 oz.; Best by Oct-2019; UPC 68826700676) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Texas Natural Meats recalls Frozen Beef Tongue (1.72-lb. cryovac packages; produced on various dates between April 1, 2016 and Nov. 11, 2017) due to possible contamination with specified risk material. The recalled product was  to product owners and further distributed in Texas.

Food Safety Recall: The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC recalls Stop & Shop Brand Frozen Whole Kernel Sweet Corn (16 oz.; Best by Oct-2019; UPC 68826700676) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Trader Joe’s recalls Trader Joe’s Cilantro & Chive Yogurt Dip (SKU #78720) and Trader Joe’s Tahini Sauce (SKU# 78723), due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Both products were sold in Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.

Allergy Alert: Les Empaqueteurs unis de fruits de mer ltée recalls CUISSE POULET SEMI-DES (Variable weights; All lots sold up to November 15, 2017) due to undeclared sesame seeds, mustard seeds, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts and other nuts.

Food Safety Recall: Fou du Bio (Québec, QC) recalls various products processed in glass jars, as the items were not processed in a manner that would ensure their safety for human consumption. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lidl Ireland recalls Connell Bakery Wholesome Seed & Grain Sliced Pan (800g; All batch codes; All best before dates) due to undeclared soy.

Allergy Alert (Northern Ireland): Lidl recalls Connell Bakery Wholesome Seed and Grain Sliced Pan (800g; All batch codes; All best before dates) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Højer Pølser recalls Red wine salami, Cognac sirloin and Ålerøget sirloin due to risk of growth of gas-producing bacteria that may cause packages to bulge. Please refer to the recall notice for additional information.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): California Direct GmbH recalls Trader Joe’s Soft Fruits – Figs (250g; Expiry 31.08.2018; Lot #L21773) due to excessive levels of ochratoxin A, a mold toxin that can cause kidney disease. The recalled product was available in Aldi Nord stores.

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC and Texas Health Officials warn the public that anyone who consumed raw milk or raw milk products from K-Bar Dairy (Paradise, Texas) between June 1 and Aug. 7, 2017, should get antibiotic treatment to avoid the risk of lifelong, chronic infections as a result of infection with Brucella RB51. So far, CDC and Texas health officials have received reports about people who drank K-Bar milk or have symptoms consistent with brucellosis caused by RB51 in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Ohio, North Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.

Outbreak Alert: The Rhode Island Department of Health is investigating two cases of Listeria infection linked to consumption of queso fresco made with unpasteurized milk.

Outbreak Alert: CDC reports a 7-state outbreak of Campylobacter illnesses linked to puppies purchased from Petland, a national pet store chain. Thirty-nine confirmed cases have been reported; 9 of the victims required hospitalization.

Allergy Alert: America New York RI Wang Food Group recalls approximately 53,973 pounds of Heat Treated but Not Fully Cooked-Not Shelf Stable pork sausage products due to undeclared milk. Allergy Alert: Cherry Valley Marketplace recalls CHERRY VALLEY VANILLA CUPCAKES and CHERRY VALLEY CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES (12 oz pkgs; Expiry 09/20/2017 and 09/30/17) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were distributed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Food Safety Recall: German Sausage Haus, LLC recalls approximately 1,252 pounds of Heat Treated, Not Fully Cooked-Not Shelf Stable (HTNFCNSS) meat products due to a possible processing deviation that may have led to staphylococcal enterotoxin contamination.
