United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC and FDA continue their investigation into a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to packaged salads produced by Dole. The outbreak has grown to seventeen cases in thirteen states. Thirteen of the seventeen victims have been hospitalized, and two people have died.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is investigating possible food links to an outbreak of sixteen cases of enteroinvasive E. coli O143:H26. No information has been released as to the states that have reported outbreak cases. The source of the outbreak is unknown at this time.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA has issued a formal warning letter to D&C Seafood, Inc (Venice, LA) due to the company’s failure to have and implement a HACCP plan and its lack of response to address the violations.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA has issued a formal warning letter to 5,000 Years Foods, Inc. (Chicago, IL) due to the company’s violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Two Bears recalls various Two Bears brand oat milk products due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Kiryas Tosh (Boisbriand, QC) recalls Kraus Cuisine brand Saumon fumé  NOVA / Nova smoked salmon (210g; Sold up to 2 February 2022) due to food safety concerns.

Food Safety Recall: Charcuterie M.D. inc. (Dollard-Des Ormeaux, QC) recalls Charcuterie MD brand Saumon fumé à chaud / Hot-smoked salmon (Sold up to 2 Febrary 2022) due to absence of a “Use by” date.

Food Safety Recall: Tony Boucherie (Pont-Rouge, QC) recalls Tony Boucherie brand Ragoût de pattes de porc et boulettes / Pork feet stew with dumplings (700g; Sold up to 1 February 2022) and Tony Boucherie brand Sauce Spaghetti / Spaghetti sauce (700 ml; Sold up to 1 February 2022) due to lack of storage temperature labeling.
