OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Final Update): CDC reports a total of 104 illnesses in 33 states in a Salmonella outbreak linked to consumption of charcuterie meats. Twenty-seven people were hospitalized. The investigation of this outbreak has been closed.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION – Final Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports 44 lab-confirmed outbreak cases of extensively drug resistant Salmonella I 4,[5],12:i:- illnesses in six provinces since 2020. The most recent case was is January 2024. The outbreak has been linked to two sources: (1) exposure to raw meat prepared for pets and raw pet food, and (2) contact with cattle, particularly calves. The investigation has now been closed.
