United States

Allergy Alert: Dolcetta Artisan Sweets recalls Dolcetta branded chocolate confections due to undeclared soy and milk. Please refer to the recall notice for details.

Allergy Alert: Vanilla Castle Bakery recalls snickerdoodle cookies (16 oz. tray), snickerdoodle whoopie pies (7 oz. bag) and snickerdoodle cookie packs (3 oz. tray) due to undeclared soy and wheat. The recalled products were available for sale prior to March 14, 2017 at retail locations throughout Ohio.

Food Safety Recall: RBR Meat Company, Inc. recalls Marketside Extra Large Supreme Pizza (16″ pizza; Lot code 20547) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was shipped to retail distribution centers in California, Nevada, Utah and Washington.

Food Safety Recall: Materne North America Corp. recalls Non-organic GoGo squeeZ® applesauce pouches (Best Before Date of 12/4/15-3/4/17 and a 5 digit production code beginning “US” followed by 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 or 08) due to potential adulteration from food product residue.

Food Safety Recall: Whole Foods Market expands Vulto Creamery recall to include Andes, Hamden and Walton Umber cheeses sold in eight stores in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Canada

Outbreak Alert Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada advises that the number of reported cases in the current E. coli O121 outbreak has increased to 24. Confirmed reports of infections caused by the outbreak strain have been reported from British Columbia (12), Saskatchewan (4), Alberta (3) and Newfoundland and Labrador (5). The source of the outbreak remains under investigation.

Allergy Alert: L’Intermarché du Plateau (Montreal, QC) recalls HAUT DE CUISSE DE POULET ASSAISONER/Seasoned Chicken Thigh due to undeclared wheat, sesame seeds, milk, nuts and soy.

Allergy Alert: King’s Family Inc. recalls various King’s Family brand Dumplings due to undeclared egg. Please refer to recall notice for details.

Food Safety Recall: New Era Nutrition Inc. recalls SoLo GI brand energy bars due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Industry recalls Dixie Diners’ Club brand Carb Not Beanit Butter (15 oz.; UPC 6 16578 78105 2; all batch codes) due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7.

Europe

Allergy Alert (Denmark): SK Meat-Vertriebs GmbH recalls Chicken Nuggets with Curry Dip (300g; Best before 05/02/2018; Batch code CH. 033001) due to undeclared gluten and celery and possible traces of mustard. The recalled product was sold in Lidl supermarkets in in Jutland and on Funen.

Allergy Alert (Denmark): Hellebergs ApS recalls Chocolate Sponge Cake Mix (1 kg; Best before 2017-10-31; Lot codes 63567890, 63868307, 64068616, 64268946,
64869797, 63567891, 64068615, 64268945, 64869796, 70170374, 70170375, 70270652, 70270651; Product of Funcakes, Netherlands) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lindt & Sprungli Ltd recalls Lindt Excellence Dark Extra Fine Shell Egg (220g; best-before end: 10-2017; batch: LS7018) and Lindor Strawberry & Cream Shell Egg (285g; best-before end: 07-2017; batch: LS6334) due to undeclared barley.

Allergy Alert (UK): Lindt & Sprungli Ltd recalls Lindt Excellence Dark Extra Fine Shell Egg (220g; Batch code LS7018) and Lindor Strawberry & Cream Shell Egg (285g; Batch code L6334), due to undeclared barley.

Allergy Alert (UK): SunVit-D3 Limited recalls SunVit-D3 5000IU Tablets (28 tablet pack size; Batch code 128057; Expiry February 2019) due to undeclared lactose.

Allergy Alert (UK): Seasalt Cornwall recalls Seasalt Cornwall Eton Mess White Chocolate Bar (100g; 21 June 2017, 17 July 2017, 30 July 2017, 20 August 2017, 10 September 2017, 1 October 2017) and Seasalt Cornwall Lemon Meringue Chocolate Bar (95g; Best before 29 March 2017) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert (UK): Tesco recalls Oriental Kitchen Chicken Chow Mein (400g; Batch code L 069 F) due to undeclared egg, milk, mustard and sesame.

Allergy Alert (UK): Kernow Chocolate recalls Kernow Chocolate Eton Mess Bar (100g; Best before 29 March 2017 and 08 December 2017) and Kernow Chocolate Lemon Meringue Bar (95g; Best before 22 March 2017 and 06 December 2017) due to undeclared egg.

Food Safety Recall (Germany): Friki Döbeln GmbH recalls Viva Vital brand Viennese Chicken weiners with skim-milk yogurt (300g; Expiry dates 22.03.2017 to 03.04.2017) due to contamination with metal fragments.

Food Safety Recall (Israel): Pe’er Delicacies Company recalls Mother’s Couscous, Sultana-Tunisian Couscous and Sultana-Moroccan Couscous (800g pkgs; Expiry dates 01/28/18-28/02/18) due to suspected Staphylococcus aureus contamination.

  • Food Safety Recall: Procesadora de Productos Marinos Delifish S.A. recalls Black Bear of the Black Forest Smoked Salmon (1 lb.; UPC 810230000493; Lots 249 thru 291), Food Service Cold Smoked Salmon Trim (1 lb.; Lots 249 thru 291), Einstein Darn Good (4 oz Retail package; UPC 099892315200, Lots 249 thru 291), Food Service Whole Smoked Side (3-5 lb.; Lots 249 thru 291), Silver Source Smoked Salmon Foodservice (2-3 lb. smoked fillet; Lots 249 thru 291), Royal Fjord Smoked Toppers (6oz; UPC 810230000561; Lots 249 thru 291), Royal Fjord Sliced Smoked Salmon Loin (12-14 oz.; Item # 42925; Lots 249 thru 291) and HEB smoked salmon (4 oz.; UPC 041220630417; Lots 249 thru 291), after Listeria monocytogenes is found in “a few” of the recalled batches. The recalled product, which was produced by Marine Harvest Chile S.A. for Delifish S.A. and distributed by Marine Harvest USA, LLC (Miami, FL), may have been sold in California, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.
  • Animal Feed Safety Recall: ADM Alliance Nutrition, Inc. recalls MoorMan’s® ShowTec® 18 Elite Lamb DC (Product #80939MPS; Lots BF23512, BF27812, and BF29312), because the product has high levels of copper. The recalled sheep feed was shipped between Aug 24, 2012 and Nov 21, 2012 to distributors and customers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
  • Outbreak Alert (Illinois): CBS reports that more than approximately 140 prisoners at Stateville Correctional Center have been infected with norovirus gastroenteritis. The source of the outbreak is under investigation.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. (Edmonton, AB) recalls Kinnikinnick Foods Pie Crusts (2 x 8″ pie crusts per 290g pkg; UPC 6 20133 00600 9; Best before 2013NO20, 2013NO21, 2013DE11, 2013DE14), due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, but may have been distributed nationally.

Europe

  • Food Safety Recall (Germany): Pilzversand Zollner recalls Dried Morels (100g; Best before 31.12.2014), because the product is contaminated with toxic mushrooms. The recalled Dried Morels were sold on eBay from between early October 2012 and December 23, 2012.
  • Food Safety Recall (Luxembourg): Fromagerie de Jussac recalls a range of cheeses made from cow’s milk, goat milk and sheep milk, due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled cheeses were sold between October 31, 2012 and December 26, 2012 under the following brands: Brique de Jussac, Brique du Forez, Brique d’Auvergne, Brique de la Besse, Brique de Pays (mixed goat and cow’s milk), and Gerbizon.
  • Food Safety Recall (Netherlands): Dupont Belgium and Fromagerie de Jussac (France) recall Jussac brand Brique lait de vache (250g), Brique lait de brebis (200g), Brique lait de chèvre (200g), Mini briques panachées and Gerbizon cheeses, due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. All of the recalled products carry Best before dates between 28/12/12 and 19/02/13, inclusive and were sold in EMTÉ, Jumbo, and wholesale Gligro supermarkets, and in cheese shops. No related illnesses have been reported in the Netherlands.
  • Food Safety Recall (Switzerland): Fromagerie de Jussac recalls Briques de Jussac (3 x 60g, brebis, chèvre, vache; Best before dates 09.01.2013, 12.01.2013, 23.01.2013; Item #2125.063.000), due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled cheeses were sold in Migros stores in Genève, Vaud, Neuchâtel-Fribourg and Valais.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall (Philippines): Pascual Laboratories recalls CALCHEWS Chocolate Flavor (Lot #382BWA & 382BWB; Expiry date 8/2014), due to contamination with Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus.
  • Food Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Centre for Food Safety advises the public not to consume Shui Kou Preserved Chili Bean Curd (350g/bottle; Best before December 30, 2013; Product of Guangdong Province, China), due to contamination with high levels of Bacillus cereus.
  • Cosmetic Products Safety Alert (Philippines): The Philippines FDA advises the public that several unapproved cosmetic products containing levels of mercury above the allowable limit have entered the Philippine market . These products should be avoided. Please refer to the Update for a list of implicated products.
  • Outbreak Alert (Japan): The fatal norovirus epidemic at Yokohama Denentoshi Hospital has grown to 112 cases, according to The Japan Times. As of today, 82 patients and 30 staff members have been infected. Four elderly bed-ridden patients have died as a result of the infectious gastroenteritis outbreak.

  • Allergy Alert: Wimberger’s Old World Bakery & Delicatessen recalls all Kaiser Rolls, Seeded Rolls, Brat Buns, French Bread, Pretzel Rolls, Pretzels, Pizza Dough, Hoagie Rolls and French Baguettes because they contain undeclared Milk, Soy and Wheat. All of the recalled products were packed in semi-transparent plastic bags identified “fresh from the OVEN SOUR DOUGH 12 KAISER ROLLS, NET WT 20 OZ, WIMBERGER’S OLD WORLD BAKERY 2321 Bott St., Colorado Springs, Colo 80904”. The labeling is yellow, white, and brown, with black print writing bearing the UPC 7960540012 or in 10 oz. bags bearing the UPC 7960540012. The recalled products were distributed to grocery stores, delicatessens and restaurants in Colorado and Kansas.
  • Allergy Alert: Tony Downs Foods Company (Madelia, MN) recalls Tyson Premium Chunk Chicken (12.5-oz cans; Best by May 18, 2015; Code date 8965 248A 12139), due to mislabelling and the presence of undeclared wheat. The incorrectly labeled cans may actually contain Beef with Gravy. The recalled product was distributed to retailers nationwide.
  • Food Safety Recall: LSG Sky Chefs (Orlando, FL) recalls RaceTrac Chipotle Chicken Wrap (6.9-oz pkg; Sell Thru July 27 to July 31, 2012; Est P-19682), because the ready-to-eat product contains diced onions that were recalled by Gill’s Onions due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled wraps were produced from July 22nd to July 26th, 2012 and shipped for distribution to Racetrac stores in Florida.
  • Food Safety Recall: Enslin & Son Packing Company (Hattiesburg, MS) recalls Cedar Grove Red Hots (1.5-lb and 2-lb pkgs; Use or freeze by dates of 09/24/2012 or 09/28/2012; Est P-31806), due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were supplied to Save-A-Lot and Cash Saver in Meridian, MS and to William Brothers in Philadelphia, MS.
  • Food Safety Recall: Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. recalls prepared foods that contain chopped/diced white onions as an ingredient, because the onion were recalled by Gill Onions, LLC due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.   • Food Safety Recall: GH Foods CA, LLC recalls various products containing yellow onions, because the onions were recalled by Gills Onions due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were sold under the following brands: Delish! (California), Generic Label Albertson’s (California and Nevada), Garden Highway (California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah), Marketside (California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Idaho), Natural Directions (Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Wyoming), Pacific Coast Directions (California and Nevada), Raley’s (California and Nevada), Safeway Farms (Safeway, Vons Pavilions, Pak ‘N Save in California, Nevada and Arizona), Signature Café (Safeway, Vons Pavilions, Pak ‘N Save in California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska), Sprouts (California) and Trader Joe’s (California, Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona.   • Food Safety Recall: Whole Foods Market recalls certain fresh food items sold in prepared foods departments and one item sold in seafood departments of their Florida stores, because the products may contain raw yellow onions that were recalled by Gills Onions, LLC due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products were sold at 17 Whole Foods Market locations in Florida between July 7th and July 27th, 2012.   • Food Safety Recall: Cool Creations, LLC (North Kansas City, MO) recalls certain Cool Creations, LLC or Fiesta Garden Fresh Salsa brand products containing onions (Lot codes 12201 to 12208; that were recalled by Gills Onions, LLC due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products were distributed to retailers in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma between July 19th and July 26th, 2012.   • Food Safety Recall: Trader Joe’s recalls the following products that contain onions that were recalled by Gills Onions due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination: Trader Joe’s Diced Onions, Garlic & Shallots Blend (Best by 7/15/12 through 8/1/12; Arizon, California, Nevada & New Mexico stores); Trader Joe’s Roasted Butternut Squash, Red Quinos & Wheatberry Salad (Use by 7/28/12 and 7/30/12; Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington stores); Trader Joe’s BBQ Chicken Salad (Use by 7/16/12 through 7/30/12; Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, Southern Nevada & Texas stores); Trader Joe’s Fresh Mild Salsa (16 oz; Use by 8/9/12; Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Southern Virginia Region stores); and Trader Joe’s Balela (Use by 7/31/12; Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Southern Virginia Region stores).
  • Food Safety Recall: Productos Tita Corp. (Glendale, NY) recalls Quesito Colombiano, Colombian style Cheese (8-oz clear plastic pouches or tubs; Code AUG 10 2012; Plant code #36-8440), after a routine sample was found by the New York State Division of Milk Control and Dairy Services to be contaminated with high levels of Staphylococcus aureus. The recalled product was distributed in the Metropolitan New York area.
  • Pet Food Safety Recall: Arthur Dogswell LLC recalls Catswell Brand VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins (2-oz plastic bag; Lot codes SEW12CH032701/03c & SEW12CH032702/03c; Best before 09/10/13 and 09/11/13), because the treats may contain propylene glycol. The recalled product was distributed nationwide via retail stores and mail order from April 13th through June 14th, 2012. The problem was detected as a result of a routine surveillance sample.
  • Personal Care Product Safety Recall: Natural Essentials recalls Oasis Age Essential Mouthwash (16 OL; Lot #11842, 11741 and 11851; Expiration date 5/2014), due to possibel contamination with Burkholderia cepacia.
  • Outbreak Alert (Florida): Several dozen Disney World attendees became ill with diarrhea, abdominal pain and fatigue in early June after participating in the Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek, according to the Orange County Health Department. Symptoms lasted 2-5 days, and none of the victims were hospitalized. The source of the illness outbreak has not yet been determined.
  • Outbreak Alert Update (Cruise): CDC reports that the outbreak of illnesses on a July 8-21, 2012 voyage of Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess was due to norovirus. Fifteen crew members and 201 passengers developed vomiting and diarrhea during the cruise, which docked in New York on July 20, 2012. Norovirus was confirmed in stool specimens analyzed by a Health Canada lab in Halifax.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency warns consumers who are allergic to almond not to consume Lotte brand Choco Pie (280g pkgs; UPC 8 801062 168255; All date codes), because the product contains undeclared almonds.This product is known to have been distributed in Ontario and may have been distributed in other provinces as well.
  • Allergy Alert: Montreal Kosher updates its earlier recall of Montreal Kosher brand product to include all of the following: Montreal Kosher Potato Knish (283g, 340g and 454g; All lot codes). The recalled products, which contain undeclared egg, were distributed in Ontario and Quebec.
  • Food Safety Recall: Manitoba Liquor Control Commission recalls Woody’s Sasparilla Original Alcoholic Beverage (4 x 330 mL; Code BB 16/02/14), due to extraneous material (glass) contamination. The recalled product was sold in Manitoba.
  • Food Safety Recall (Retail distribution): Gills Onions brand Fresh Diced Yellow Onions, Fresh Diced Red Onions and Fresh Diced Celery & Onions (198g pkgs; Best before dates up to and including 08/03/12; Product of USA), which were recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, were sold by the following retail chains: Gambles Ontario Produce Inc. (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan), Overwaitea Food Group LP (Alberta, British Columbia), Loblaw Companies Ltd. (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan), and Walmart Canada Corp (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan).

Europe

  • Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Fang’s Food S.A. recalls Fang’s Food Bean Sprouts (250g, 5kg & 10kg; Best before 25/07/2012 to 31/07/2012), due to Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were sold during the period of 19/07 to 25/07/2012.
  • Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Delhaize Belgique recalls Delhaize brand Wokmix soja (250g; Expiry 26 and 27 July 2012), Wok Légumes et soja (400g; Expiry 27 July 2012), Wok chop choy (400g; Expiry 26 & 27 July 2012), Wok mélange de légumes (400g; Expiry 27 July 2012) and Wok légumes chinois (400g; Expiry 27 July 2012), because the products contain soy sprouts that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
  • Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Match recalls Cora brand Roquefort (4 x 25g; Lot #120466192; Best before 10/11/2012), due to contamination with Escherichia coli O103:H2. The recalled cheese was sold in Match, Smatch, and Match Food and More stores.
