Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating a 27-state outbreak of Salmonella Javiana illnesses linked to jalapeño peppers. Since June 19, 2026, there have been 345 confirmed cases, including 36 people hospitalized. The implicated fresh jalapeños were grown in Sinaloa, Mexico and imported into the USA by Coast Citrus Distributors. The peppers were distributed to wholesalers and restaurants, including Chipotle and QDOBA.

USA: CDC reports an outbreak of Salmonella Paratyphi B Variant L (+) Tartrate + infections linked to contact with small pet turtles. Eight children in 3 states are affected by the outbreak. Three of the children have been hospitalized.

USA Updates: FDA updates case counts on several outbreak investigations linked to not yet identified products.

USA Cyclosporiasis Update: CDC reports 10,468 laboratory-confirmed domestic cases of cyclosporiasis in 47 states. Two people have died and 517 were hospitalized. An additional 12,255+ cases are under investigation. A further 1,341 travel-related cases have been reported in 44 states.
