Outbreak/Illness Investigations

SWEDEN: The Public Health Agency reports 16 cases of Salmonella Napoli infections suspected to have been caused by arugula from Italy, according to a report in Food Safety News.

USA (Update): FDA and FSIS report that the 38-case outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses appears to be linked to consumption of a (still unidentified) ready-to-eat multi-ingredient chicken wraps. The wraps were proactively removed from the market before the link to the outbreak was confirmed and they are no longer available for sale and past shelf-life.

Infant Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Pacific Health Sciences recalls Babies’ Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water (4 fl oz; Lot 25122bw; Best before 12/2028) due to undeclared ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues public health alert for GRACE READY TO EAT canned chicken Vienna-style sausages that were illegally imported from Jamaica.

Food Safety Recall: Eden Brothers LLC recalls Calabrese Broccoli Seeds (packets, 1 oz, and 1 lb sizes; Supplier lot W4105; Eden Brothers lots 1022067 and 1022068) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The seeds were sold nationwide through Eden Brothers online and Amazon from July 8 through September 28, 2026.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Star Ocean Wholesale Foods, Inc. that an August 4th – 6th, 2026 inspection of the company’s facility found serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Tipical Latin Food, Corp. DBA La Pradera that an April 20 through April 27, 2026 inspection of the company’s ready-to-eat (RTE) Venezuelan style cheese products (queso de mano, queso guayanes, and queso estilo telita) and cachapa (corn pancake) manufacturing facility found serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation.

Allergy Alert: Nutrifresh West Ltd. recalls Ashoka brand Masala Paneer Kathi Roll (200g; Batch no. 25 C V; Best before 2027 MR 25; UPC 8 901552 017909) due to undeclared sesame.
