Allergy Alert: First Source recalls Wegmans Yogurt Raisins (9-oz pkg; Best before 01/05/19; UPC 0 77890 31832 4) due to undeclared peanuts. The recalled product was sold in Wegmans Stores in MA, MD, NJ, NY, PA, and VA.

Allergy Alert: eBars LLC recalls various products due to undeclared peanuts and/or almonds. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed through Whole Foods in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, and through Kroger in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and Georgia, and were also distributed nationwide through ebars.com website.

Allergy Alert: Nine Whole Foods Market stores in Northern California recall some decorated (iced) cookies from the self-service cookie displays due to undeclared egg. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products and stores.

Allergy Alert: Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen Inc. recalls various salad products due to undeclared seafood. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Kwik Trip, Inc. recalls Kitchen’s Cravings Premium Egg Salad Sandwich on Oat Multigrain Bread (Sell by dates of 3/25/18, 3/26/18, 3/27/18, 3/28/18, and 3/29/18; UPC 3977900079) due to undeclared fish or seafood. The recalled product was sold in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Food Safety Recall: Tony Downs Food Company, Inc. recalls approximately 96,384 pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials (hard plastic). Food Safety Recall: Tamarack Inc. recalls Eclipse Kratom-containing powder products due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for additional details.

Food Safety Recall: Zappia Foods recalls various Zappia Marinara products because the products were manufactured without the benefit of inspection. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Blue Ridge Beef recalls BRB Complete Raw Pet Food (2-lb frozen chubs; Lot #GA0131) due to possible contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled product was distributed in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Darwin’s Natural Pet Products recalls four production lots of its raw meals for dogs due to potential contamination with Salmonella and E. coli O128. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Canada

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recall: Erie Meat Products Ltd. recalls Druxy’s Fresh Deli Revolution brand Seasoned Cooked Roast Beef (variable weights; Best before 2018AL09) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of Druxy’s locations where the product was sold. CFIA advises the public that there have been reported illnesses that may be associated with the consumption of this product. Further lab testing is underway to confirm the link.

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recall: Erie Meat Products Ltd. recalls Harvest Creek brand Chicken Nuggets – Uncooked Breaded Cutlettes (2 x 1kg; Best before 18-OC-11; UPC 8 29810 93350 2) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, and Quebec, and may have been distributed in other provinces or territories. The recall was triggered by findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. Information on the illness outbreak is available from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Allergy Alert: Supermarché Samson P.A. (Laval, QC) recalls various ready-to-eat dishes due to undeclared sesame seeds, gluten, wheat, milk, soy, fish and eggs. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Phoenicia Group Inc. recalls Durra brand Mansaf Seasoning (70g; Lot 03; Best by 09/04/2019; UPC 6 251136 007096) due to undeclared sesame and gluten. The recalled product was distributed to retailers in Ontario and Quebec.

Allergy Alert: Metro Ontario Inc. recalls Irresistibles brand Swedish Style Meatballs, fully cooked (680g; all lots; UPC 0 59749 88417 4) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was sold in Ontario.

Allergy Alert: Industry recalls Dhawaka brand Choco Kids Chocolat en poudre (180g; Lot #107; Best before 07/2018; UPC 6 194023 504707) due to undeclared gluten. The recalled product was sold in Quebec.

Food Safety Recall: Restaurant le Palais Eagle (Montreal, QC) recalls Pain de poisson (all lots sold up to and including 23 March 2018) due to incorrect labeling (lack of instruction to keep product refrigerated).

Food Safety Recall: Marché Solaire (Montreal, QC) recalls Pain de poisson (all lots sold up to and including 23 March 2018) due to inadequate packaging and labeling (lack of instruction to keep product refrigerated).

Europe

Allergy Alert (Denmark): LikeMeat Nordic recalls Organic Veggie Chicken Style Chunks (180g; Best before 12/12/2018) due to undeclared soy.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lidl Ireland recalls Deluxe Wild Salmon with Dill Sauce and Deluxe Wild Salmon with Spinach (700g; All batches lacking English labeling) because the products contain allergens (gluten (Wheat), Egg, Fish, Milk, and Mustard) that are not indicated in English on the labels

Allergy Alert (UK): Interlink Direct Ltd recalls CEBU Dried Mangoes (100g; Best before 9 August 2019) due to undeclared sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

Allergy Alert (UK): Co-op recalls Co-op Breaded Cod Fillets (270g; Use by 02 April 2018) due to undeclared mustard and milk.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Valsemøllen A/S recalls organic rough rye flour (1kg; Best before 29/01/2019/12 and 12/02/2019/08) due to ochratoxin levels above acceptable limits.

Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Eksotiske delikatesser A/S recalls Aioli (160g; Best before 19/04/2018) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Finland): Escamar Seafood Oy recalls Apetit Kirjolohisuikaleet (300g; Use by 28.3., 29.3. and 30.3.2018) due to glass breakage.

Food Safety Recall (Italy): Ittica Luciana S.r.l. recalls Clams (Tapes semidecussatus) (1 kg; Lot L570; Produced 18-3-2018 and 19-3-2018) due to presence of E. coli in excess of permitted levels.

  • Allergy Alert: Herbalife recalls Instant Healthy Meal Nutritional Shake Mix packets (cartons of 12 packets & single-serving packets in introductory business pack; Lot Nos. 133405G10, 133408G10, & 133409G10) due to undeclared traces of milk proteins. The label identifies the product as dairy-free. The recalled product was distributed in the USA from January 16, 2013 through February 16, 2013, exclusively to individual independent distributors.
  • Allergy Alert Update: Bruce Foods Corporation (New Iberia, LA) recalls Food Club Red Enchilada Sauce (10 oz cans; Code GES 462449; Best before 12/3/2016) due to undeclared wheat and soy. The recalled product was distributed between 1/15/2013 and 1/28/2013 in Virginia, Minnesota and Indiana. The original recall notice did not include Indiana in the distribution lits.
  • Food Safety Recall: Dakota Specialty Milling recalls certain specialty flours and grain blends due to the possible presence of fragments of thin metal wire from a defective screen on one of its manufacturing lines. The recalled flours and blends were supplied to manufacturers of leading brands of variety breads, cereals, crackers, granola, and nutrition bars, and were not sold directly to consumers.
  • Food Safety Recall: King Arthur Flour (Norwich, VT) recalls King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (5-lb bags; UPC 0-71012-01050-9; Best used by 12/26/2013 & Lot code L12A26B, 12/26/2013 and L12A26C, 12/27/2013 and L12A27A, 01/18/2014 and A13A18A, 01/18/2014 and A13A18B, 01/21/2014 and A13A21A, 01/22/2014 and A13A22B, 01/30/2014 and A13A30A, 01/31/2014 and A13A31A) and King Arthur Unbleached Bread Flour (5-lb bags; UPC 0-71012-04105-3; Best use by 12/26/2013 and Lot code L12A26A, 12/26/2013 and L12A26B, 01/03/2014 and A13A03A, 01/03/2014 and A13A03B, 01/16/2014 and A13A16B, 01/17/2014 and A13A17A, 01/23/2014 and A13A23A, 01/28/2014 and A13A28A, 01/31/2014 and A13A31A), due to the presence of small blue polyurethane balls that are used in the sifting process. Only those bags where the Best Used By Date and Lot code numbers are printed on the side of the bag beneath the nutrition panel are affected.
  • Food Recall: Price Chopper recalls Price Chopper Cooked Squash (12 oz; UPC 41735-30346; Lot #1PNNUA21; Best by November 21, 2013), due to taste and odor not meeting quality expectations.
  • Pet Food Safety Recall: Hy-Vee, Inc. recalls Hy-Vee Complete Dog – Complete Nutrition (Green Bag) dog food (34-lb, 8-lb and 4.4-lb bags; UPC 07545005647, 07545005667 & 07545005665, respectively; Lot # ending with 29812KC; Best by date 11/24/13), Hy-Vee Complete Dog – Complete Nutrition (Green Bag) dog food (4.4-lb bags; UPC 07545005665; Lot # ending with 29912KC; Best by date 11/25/13) and Hy-Vee Complete Dog – Bites, Bones & Squares (Yellow Bag) dog food (20-lb and 4.4-lb bags; UPC 07545005680 & 07545005560, respectively; Lot # ending with 29312KC; Best by date 11/19/13), after the iowa Department of Agriculture found higher than normal levels of aflatoxin in some samples produced at a Kansas City plant operated by Pro-Pet, LLC. The recalled products were distributed to Hy-Vee stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin between October 26, 2012 and January 11, 2013.
  • Outbreak Alert Update: The State of Alaska reports that 18 individuals have been identified in an outbreak of Campylobacter infections associated with consuming raw milk distributed by a Kenai-based cow-share program. Some of the outbreak victims reported recurrent illness, and two people required hospitalization. The Alaska Section of Epidemiology is contacting individuals suspected of receiving or consuming raw milk from the implicated far and expects the number of probable and confirmed cases to rise. The implicated raw milk was distributed to shareholders throughout the Kenai Peninsula, in Anchorage and in Sitka. There is at least one secondary case – an infant who had close contact with a confirmed case-patient. Anyone in Alaska who consumed raw milk in 2013 and subsequently developed a diarrheal illness should contact the Alaska Section of Epidemiology at 907-269-8000 (in Anchorage) or toll-free at 1-800-478-0084 and ask to speak to a member of the Infectious Disease Team.

Canada

  • Food Safety Recall: Nu-Tea Company Ltd. (Abbotsford, BC) recalls Tega brand Organic Lemon Hibiscus Green Rooibos Herbal Tea (24 tea bags/48g/1.69 oz; UPC 6 64322 10406 0; Best before dates 2014FE01, 2014MR27, and 2014MR28) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed at the retail level in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
  • Outbreak Alert Update: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports that two more cases of E. coli O157:H7 illness have been linked to frozen beef burgers from Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd. The latest illnesses, which were reported in Manitoba and Ontario, brings the total number of outbreak victims to seven people in three provinces: Ontario (4), Alberta (2) and Manitoba (1). The most recent illness reports triggered a reopening of CFIA’s investigation into operations at Cardinal, and prompted the recall of additional products by the company.

The recalled product was supplied to retail food distributors in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania for distribution to retail stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
  • Allergy Alert: Southwest Ice Cream Specialties recalls ShurFine “Creamery Select” Dulce de Leche Premium Ice Cream (1.75-qt/1.66L “scround” container; UPC 015400224840; Best by Nov 8, 2014; Plant code 48-3202-F). Due to a packaging error, the cartons contain undeclared wheat, soy, and pecans as a result of the Dulce de Leche cartons having been filled with ShurFine Praline Pecan ice cream.
  • Allergy Alert: Woodstock® (Providence, RI) recalls Woodstock All Natural Tamari Almonds (7.5 oz; Best by 10/24/13; Lot 12298), because the product contains undeclared soy due to mislabeling. The recalled product was supplied to retailers in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, and District of Columbia.
  • Allergy Alert: Somersault Snack Co., LLC (Sausalito, CA) recalls Somersaults Cinnamon Crunch products (All package sizes; All Sell-by dates of 8/30/2013 or earlier), due to the presence of undeclared milk. The recalled product was distributed to retailers nationwide.
  • Allergy Alert: Island Delights, Inc. (Seville, OH) recalls Maple Coconut Haystacks (various sizes; Lot 13410400.02, 13410400.04, 13410400.08 and 13410402.00) Chocolate/Almond Coconut Haystacks (various sizes; Lot 13413100.02, 13413100.04, 13413100.08 and 13413102.00), Coffee Coconut Haystacks (various sizes; Lot 13411300.02, 13411300.04, and 13411300.08) and Almond Coconut Haystacks (various sizes; Lot 13413000.02, 13413000.04, 13413000.08 and 13413002.00), because the products contain undeclared milk.   • Food Safety Recall: GIANT Food Stores, LLC and MARTIN’S Food Markets alert their customers to the recall by Ocean Beauty Seafoods LLC of all Sell-By dates of the following products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenesNathan’s Nova Salmon (3 o.z.; UPC 7303080368), Nathan’s Nova Salmon (8 o.z.; UPC 7303080369), and Lassco Smoked Salmon (3 o.z.; UPC 7284001703).
  • Food Safety Recall: Sister Sara’s (Pleasanton, CA) recalls Sister Sara’s Good For You Soup (1-qt/32-oz glass jar), Sister Sara’s Bread and Butter Pickles (1-pt/16-oz glass jar), Sister Sara’s Pickled Beets (1-pt/16-oz glass jar) and Sister Sara’s Old Fashioned Dill Pickles (half-gallon/64-oz glass jar), due to possible Clostridium botulinum contamination as a result of having possibly been improperly produced. The recalled products were sold at the Pleasanton Farmers Market (Pleasanton, CA) and the Livermore Certified Farmers Market (Livermore, CA).
  • Pet Treat Safety Recall: Publix Super Markets recalls Publix Chicken Tenders Dog Chew Treats (3,5-oz bag; UPC 41415-18527), because the product may contain trace amounts of antibiotic residue. The recalled product was sold in Publix grocery stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
  • Pet Treat Safety Recall: Milo’s Kitchen® recalls Chicken Jerky Home-Style Dog Treats and Chicken Grillers Home-Style Dog Treats, after trace amounts of residual antibiotics were detected by the New York State Department of Agriculture in several lots of Milo’s Kitchen® Chicken Jerky. Both of the recalled products are sourced from the same chicken suppliers.
  • Pet Treat Safety Withdrawal: Nestlé Purina PetCare Company and its wholly owned subsidiary Waggin’ Train LLC withdraw Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch brand dog treats sold nationwide in the United States until further notice. The action was taken after the New York State Department of Agriculture detected trace amounts of antibiotic residue in samples of the chicken jerky treats.
  • Pet Treat Safety Recall: Wegmans alerts its customers to the recall by IMS Pet Industries of Cadet Gourmet Chicken Sausage (8 oz; UPC 7-68303-07461), due to test results that showed trace amounts of antibiotic residue in the treats.
  • Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall: Mobius Therapeutics, LLC (St. Louis, MO) recalls Mitosol® (mitomycin for solution) Kit for Ophthalmic Use (0.2mg/vial; Lot #M098260 and M086920; Expiration Date 08/2013), because one or more parts of the kit may contain be contaminated with a strain of yeast. The recalled products were distributed between 10/22/2012 and 12/14/2012 in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
  • Outbreak Alert (Missouri): The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports several cases of diarrhea that may be due to Shigatoxin-producing Escherichia coli. One person has been confirmed to be infected with E. coli O103. The illnesses were reported in the northwest part of Missouri and may be related to the consumption of locally produced unpasteurized dairy products.
  • Outbreak Alert (Cruise ships): The CDC is investigating outbreaks of gastroenteritis among passengers and crew members of the Emerald Princess (Princess Cruises; voyage dates Dec 17-27, 2012) and Queen Mary 2 (Cunard Line; voyage dates Dec 22, 2012 to Jan 3, 2013). The causative agent has not yet been determined in either case.
  • Outbreak Alert Update: CDC reports that 16 persons from seven states have been infected with Salmonella Typhimurium after coming into contact with pet hedgehogs purchased from multiple breeders in different states. Three people have been hospitalized. The outbreak, which began in December 2011, has affected people in Alabama (1), Indiana (1), Michigan (3), Minnesota (2), Ohio (2), Oregon (1) and Washington (6).
