United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION ALERT: CDC reports 127 cases of Salmonella Oranienburg infections in 25 states. Eighteen people have been hospitalized. A specific food source has not yet been identified, but several clusters of confirmed cases have been associated with eating at restaurants in multiple states.

Allergy Alert: Joy Gourmet Foods Inc. recalls Joy Brand.Coriander chutney (8 oz; Batch code 0728; Best by 07302022) due to undeclared sulphites, coconut and FD&C Yellow #5.

Food Safety Recall: Green Field Farms Dairy recalls Green Field Farms Whole Chocolate Milk (Expiration date 9/29/21) due to improper pasteurization.

Canada

OUTBREAK ALERT: CFIA and the Ontario Ministry of Health are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella infections in the Greater Toronto Area associated with consumption of Shredded pork rind and Shredded pork skin in known to have been sold to certain restaurants in the GTA which serve Vietnamese/Asian meals.

Food Safety Recall Update: Erie Meat Products Ltd. recalls Silver Maple brand Frozen All White Meat Fully Cooked Diced Chicken (4.54 kg / 2 x 2.27 kg; Best before 22 AL 28; UPC 8 29810 93711 1) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Europe

OUTBREAK ALERT (FRANCE): The Hauts-de-France regional health agency reports 21 confirmed cases of food poisoning among students in three schools in Saint-André-Lez-Lille. Several of the students required hospitalization. All of the affected individuals ate in the community canteen.

OUTBREAK ALERT (UK): Scientists have again confirmed a link between Salmonella detected in feeder mice distributed by Monkfield Nutrition Ltd across all four UK nations, and an outbreak of human cases of Salmonella. The risk to the general public is considered to be very low but we are urging reptile owners who purchase certain feeder rodents for their pets to take extra precautions to avoid becoming ill with salmonellosis.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is participating in the investigation of two new multistate Salmonella outbreaks with a combined case count of 203 confirmed infections. No specific food source has been identified so far.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues Public Health Alert for certain frozen RTE meat and poultry taquitos and chimichangas items were produced by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. containing Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated diced green chilies that have been recalled by the producer, Sun Valley Foods, LLC based in El Paso, Texas, due to concerns that the products may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically hard plastic. Please refer to the FSIS notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Velvet Ice Cream recalls Raspberry Fudge Cordial Ice Cream (56 oz; Batch code A2 19521 26-012; UPC 0-7068210049-7) due to undeclared peanuts.

Food Safety Recall: SEVIROLI FOODS, INC. recalls H-E-B Jumbo Stuffed Shells (22 oz; Lot code 2 1208; Sell by 07/27/22; UPC 041220771110) due to foreign matter (metal) contamination.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 36 cases of Salmonella Typhimurium and Salmonella Infantis infections in 17 states have been linked to consumption of Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays. Please refer to the recall notice, below, for additional information on the implicated products.

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: FDA advises the public to avoid purchasing or consuming Felix Custom Smoking branded products due to potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination. FDA has recovered Listeria monocytogenes from environmental samples collected from food contact surfaces as part of an inspection of the production facility. The company has declined to initiate a recall of its products. Please refer to the FDA’s Public Health Alert for a complete list of affected products.
